Friday weigh in thread (suns out guns out challenge 8/31/2025)

I use “MyFitnessPal” Iland lost about 50 in the last 4 months and would never have done it without the app. Keeping calories @ 2000 average and eating 6 times a day. I was probably averaging 4000-5000 calories a day to maintain a weight in the 250’s a few short months ago. Have you tried any of the calorie counting apps?
Agreed! I use Lose It app. Dropped 70 lbs in about a year and have kept it off for 2 years now. I log my food daily.

Kevin is the only exception. He can lose easier than he can gain 😡 "oh I lost 4 lbs this week and I don't know why".

+1 on an app to track your calories and macros if that’s your thing. No way I could lose weight without it. I have weighed every day for over 7 months. Most are against it, but it has allowed me to learn my body. What adds water weight, what is real weight, etc. I have had morning where I was in a 600 calorie deficit the day prior, and gained a pound. I would panic/get frustrated. Now, that’s not a big deal to me. I trust my tracking and know when I should go up a few and when the scale should drop. Weird thing I’ve learned about my body...if I drink beer on a Saturday, I will go down in weight on Sunday, but jump up on Monday lol. My fitness pal is the app I use. It’s a pain for about a month. But once you have a history in there, it is easy to add stuff quickly. Secondly, a food scale will help you tremendously. Learn to weigh things. After a while you will know what a 4oz serving of steak, chicken, etc looks like. You will learn what 170 grams of Greek yogurt looks like. I still use mine every day at home, but knowing what it looks like helps me log things at restaurants. Start small. Stop getting pissed when you gain a few. Make it a lifestyle change. I have enjoyed trying to transform my body. I am no where near where I want to be thanks to surgeries setting me back, but I’ll get there. I think I was 230-235 in 2016. Thanks college. And now I am 164, going for 160. I haven’t felt this good in a while. Went from a 38 pants/XL shirt to a 30/medium.

Another +1 for tracking.

I used my fitness pal too two years ago to help me track what I should be eating each day to lose weight. I probably kept it up for about a year after hitting my goal. Like you said, you learn to visualize the proper portions after doing it for so long. I now am able to do without it and still maintain my weight loss - biggest help is to use our smaller plates/bowls/cups which forces smaller portions. I do still measure and weigh the higher calorie items though.

BTW posting daily may be detrimental IMHO because of certain issues. Weekly Weigh-ins should be good enough.
Thank you so much, I’ll give it a shot

OH also I did not start losing any weight or any visible fat until I started drinking a lot of water. And I mean an amount that most people would find obscene. Right now I'm averaging a little over a gallon of water a day plus other fluids from coffee/tea and fruits and veggies.

I dropped from about 218 to about 203 but man am I stuck there now...new plateau I guess.
One thing I read a few weeks ago is to fluctuate the daily calories consumed. If you are striving for 1500 average, work in a couple of 1800 calorie days with a couple of 1200 days each week. There is also one intermittent fasting technique where you consume all your calories in a 6 to 8 hour window each day. This means you skip either breakfast or Dinner each day. I have tried the first, but not the second.

215.6 was 218.2 so net loss of math.

I have been stress eating this week with my boss gone and me picking up the slack. But I have made sure to balance it with eating less later.

I do IF. I only eat between noon and 8 PM. It gets real easy once you get used to it. I get about 2400 calories in each day, and try to stay below 100g net carbs.

Did IF help more with weight loss in your opinion?
So I actually have gained weight in the last three or four months, but I started IF and a pretty tough calisthenics routine four days a week at the same time. I had never gained muscle and lost fat faster. I don't know if it was one or the other or both.

You forgot to mention beer 🍺
I’ve seen the photos.😄
