Friday weigh in thread (suns out guns out challenge 8/31/2025)

8/4/23 - 156.7
8/11/23 - 155.6
Pace: (-1.1 lbs/wk)

I like this pace. I hope I can keep it up for a few more weeks. Then I’ll just try to maintain.

I’m currently eating between 1800 and 2000 calories per day, except on leg day, which is twice per week. On those days, I’m eating about 2400 calories (my maintenance). Calorie cycling like this when on a cut really seems to help me. I have hit a plateau in the past when doing a 500 calorie deficit every day. I tried to go even lower when I hit this plateau, like down to 1600 calories per day, but it doesn’t help. I’m still not able to lose weight.

Calorie cycling or “refeeding” seems to boost my metabolism, allowing my weight loss to stay on pace. At the very least, it offers a mental break that keeps me motivated and prevents hunger, food anxiety, or boredom.

151. I set a new stretch goal of 150 a few weeks ago. Been steady between 153.4 and 155.6 for a couple of months, but still have a stubborn issue with some belly fat. With picture day looming @Orangeslice13 had to take it up a notch. Biggest thing holding me back has been alcohol, so cutting that back to 1 or 2 times a week max.

Too late the party on this thread to read it all, however does anyone do keto/ low carb/ low sugar? I’m just starting (day 4) and I’m starting to feel a little wore out. However I’ve already lost weight.

I have friends that have done that and they initially had similar symptoms.
Most adapted after a short time but one felt too lightheaded and abandoned the diet

I wouldn’t say I’m doing 100% keto as I’m not going to check my ketosis levels and all that. But I am going to avoid all sugars and carbs as much as possible. I need to lose around 70-80lbs in my eyes.

Keep drinking more water than you think you need. And keep up the protein/ complex carb snacks through the day to keep your blood sugars even while your body adjusts.

A lot of the weight lost in the first week or so is water, and being dehydrated generally makes you feel like crap.

Good for you! What have you been doing to lose weight?

Swimming whenever I get the chance which I need to do more as this weather isn't going to be nice for long. Also, not eating large portions when I eat anything. I found that I was overeating a bit,and felt like if I cut back it would work wonders. It did,and I feel much better. I don't binge late at night anymore which plays a big part.

A combination of things which I'm happy with.

Excellent! You did basically everything I did to go from 225 to 150. Cutting out late-night snacking was a game changer from me. Just make sure you don’t overdo it like I did. I’ve hurt myself a couple of times, which didn’t prevent any weight loss goals, but did cause pain and prevented me from building muscle. Slow and steady wins the race!
