Pace: (-1.1 lbs/wk)
I like this pace. I hope I can keep it up for a few more weeks. Then I’ll just try to maintain.
I’m currently eating between 1800 and 2000 calories per day, except on leg day, which is twice per week. On those days, I’m eating about 2400 calories (my maintenance). Calorie cycling like this when on a cut really seems to help me. I have hit a plateau in the past when doing a 500 calorie deficit every day. I tried to go even lower when I hit this plateau, like down to 1600 calories per day, but it doesn’t help. I’m still not able to lose weight.
Calorie cycling or “refeeding” seems to boost my metabolism, allowing my weight loss to stay on pace. At the very least, it offers a mental break that keeps me motivated and prevents hunger, food anxiety, or boredom.
