FSU and Miami to SEC—Just a hunch

people (tend to) guess that they have a little brother complex (a la Texas A&M) since the other NC schools are the bigger programs

Yeah, but as a program what exactly do they bring the SEC? Teams in this league pretty much pick NC over now anyway, it's not like a kid will go to UNC over a big time SEC school...In terms of televisions, doesn't the SEC do pretty well in Charlotte anyway? If we add NC State does that number move much? I think VaTech is a no-brainer but a better complimentary addition would be WVU...

Yes, the SEC does fine in Charlotte, as it does in Dallas, St Louis, Las Vegas, and Los Angeles. But that's for the nationally broadcast games. The SEC wants to improve its media rights package by guaranteeing that the non-national games are shown in solid markets, like Charlotte.

Again, absolutely not. They bring no televisions, no money, a fanbase that, while they are devoted, doesn't travel, and academics that are surpassed by most community colleges in the southeast.

I don’t know anything about advertising but wouldn’t WVU in the SEC would bring at least as many TVs from Pittsburgh (a bigger market) as NC State would bring from Charlotte? Maybe not, like I said this isn’t my gig…If not I could see an argument for finding a school it just seems like we’re adding another Mississippi State…sorta good every generation, other than that not very desirable.

Why not Maryland? Better market, better athletics…Same toe hold in the mid atlantic…

I'm not sure WVU will be a Top 25 program when they aren't getting fat off the horrific Big East.

Va Tech gets you DC as easily as Maryland does, and gets you the state of Virginia, which Maryland doesn't. Maryland would be a better choice than WVU, but they are somewhat redundant if the SEC gets VPI.

VT won't come without UVA and NCState would be a waste. I don't see us adding anything north of Virginia, either.

Virginia Tech and UVa have been in the same conference for 7 years. They are absolutely not attached, especially in a move like this where Tech would hugely benefit.

If the acc is on they don't do well. They were showing the bc/duke ending over the first quarter of the ut/Fla game last year.
