Still at it huh? Give it a rest. Fulmer is everything any young coach would try to be. Sorry (not really) that ain't enough for you. Hope all is well. This debate is getting boring. HoF. See ya.He was elected to the HOF because of his overall record.
Of course, it would be amazingly stupid not the recognize that after that national championship, the Vols slipped into mediocrity pretty fast and never were nationally relevant again. Why don't you University of Fulmer guys EVER respond to those FACTS. He is only a "legend" in the mind of a hayseed. Anyone just partially informed knows better
The part I erased was just silly. The above is probably why you are so mad . Which is silly too.
Unfortunately Pimpster, I have heard the same thing about him from several peeps who have played golf with him. I don't know it first hand, but these folks sure don't seem to like him. And no, it wasn't see him on the course and bother him, it was play WITH him.
My Fulmer story : We were in Columbia waiting for the Vols to get off the bus at the stadium. CPF walked in as my nephew then 8 or 9 years old spotted him. He stuck out his hand in hopes of shaking the UT coaches hand. CPF walked right by him, then turned completely around, came back and shook Nathans hand. We all have our days guys.

I just did give him credit. He was a really good HC at first. It quickly became obvious that he was never going to win by out-coaching or out-scheming anyone, his method was to out-talent you. Who cares how you win as long as you win.
But better recruiters hit the conference, he refused to adjust. He "stayed the course" to his own detriment. I was glad when Majors was fired and I was glad when Fulmer was fired.
I did hire him for a speaking engagement in the summer of 98. He's an arrogant prick that shortchanged us. That is immaterial to his ability to coach and run a program though.
I doubt it, Phil is too busy and happy with his joint venture company to do any color commentary. Phil is all about family and applying his coaching skills with his new adventure.
