Fulmer debate extravaganza (merged)

pure genius. I don't know UT as a university, hence I shouldn't be a fan. That's pretty close to your ridiculousness about Hillbilly's need to support Phil in order to be a fan. I donate to the VASF and pay for season tickets that I rarely use. How 'bout you?

I talk Vols because I want them to win at everything. I need no reason. You? Why not chat the UNC boards during basketball.

Who said I didn't? You're the one obsessed with talking Heels basketball here.

Hypothetically, what if those free rides included UT and UNC?
Nobody cares about your hypotheticals. Your pathetic little comparison between the football and basketball seasons has been burned to the ground. I'm sure over at SuckoTisGod.org they're having a huge wake. Why don't you go join them? Your usefulness here has run its course.

hardly. I'm simply pointing out that you are who you are. That's a far cry from a UNC basketball obsession.

You've talked education, university knowledge, BPV can't think, etc, but you've avoided the 12=12 debate. What gives?

Sure, nice try. You guys would love to see any Fulmer supporter leave. That's your main point now. But to save you some time... forget about it. It won't happen.

That's my point. Final polls in basketball are before the tournament. Yet, any realistic appraisal of a basketball team's success includes the tournament. That's basketball.

The USA Today poll was done after the tournament. Please know what you are talking about. The AP's comes out before the tournament, the USA today does one before and after.

you brought up the stupid hypothetical, hoping that it couldn't be invalidated. However comma, it was invalidated by the USA Today / Coaches poll which placed UT at 7th, even after an atrocious tourney run.

Here's the two biggest problems with Phil as UT's coach.

1. The SEC has more good teams than it did in the late 90's.

2. Phil is never again going to have teams as talented as he did in the Manning-Martin years.

....relative the talent level of the competition.....

See above.
your above was 100% exactly wrong again.

either way you've undermined your silly hypothetical. One way, you invented a debate about the relative performance of two unrelated teams with a contrived 12=12 comparison. Now you're hoping that the poll proving you absolutely and incontrovertibly wrong doesn't exist so you can continue the charade. Arguing that there is no end of season measure for appraising basketball teams undermines your argument and the fact that the poll exists simply obliterates it.

The humor here is that both happened.

BPV, we should adopt that strategy. Create a moronic comparison of two unrelated entities, have that comparison thoroughly discredited, then renounce the comparison we created. It will be great fun.

While it's creative, if I have to come off looking as ignorant as him who created the scheme, count me out.

I don't consider SEC Championships mediocre. Apparently you do, meaning that Phil Fulmer can't even get his teams to perform at an average level.

A regular season conference championship in basketball isn't the same thing as is the SEC championship in football. The Vols lost the tournament championship (consider that like the SEC CG)--and then lost in the Sweet 16.

In 2001 the Vols won the equivalent of a 'regular season' SEC football championship.

Getting to the Elite 8 is more like getting BCS bowl. We got neither.

Again, I'm not calling either the football or basketball season mediocre. Just similar.

Don't you realize that losing 4 games out of 14 is roughly the same as losing 5 out of 36? Don't you realize that losing to a depleted LSU team is pretty much the same as going on the road to beat a team that made it to the National Championship? Don't you realize that winning the East is the same as winning the SEC? Do you not understand that losing to Louisville is roughly the same as getting blown out by two 6-6 teams?
