I don't know. He used to claim that the best thing UT could do was promise Cutcliffe the head coaching position in order to retain him as our offensive coordinator.
No, it would explain why mindless homers who make imbecilic comparisons and start "Get On The SEC Championship Bandwagon Now" threads don't last long. We value intelligence here. We're not much on blind, idiotic loyalty. That would help explain why this board is so far off base with all the negativism versus the other boards.
not speaking for hat, but yes, do think some coaches get complacent, and i do think CPF got comlacent after the 04 season. there was a sense of "we're not that far away", and in 05, he got a reality check.Hat do you buy the argument that some coaches get complacent after achieving some degree of success? If so do you think that is what happened to Fulmer. Personally I am divided on the issue of Fulmer. I'm not sure who I would want to replace him but I agree change of some sort is needed soon.
Some do. Others are driven to achieve more once they a taste of success. The fact that Randy Sanders, Pat Washington, and Larry Slade were allowes to produce garbage for as long as they were without any consequences proves Fulmer's complacency.Hat do you buy the argument that some coaches get complacent after achieving some degree of success? that, and as other schools have brought in better coaches, the complacency is probably gone now.
now we're simply faced with the fact that there are just better coaches in the SEC now
Something happening, or failing to happen, for nine consecutive seasons isn't an anomaly. Something happening only twice in 15 years is.We are all guilty of engaging in the narrative fallacy. When something happens that is consistent with our theory of the world, we highlight it as symptomatic of the truth and include it in the narrative we have going on in our heads already. When something happens that is inconsistent with the narrative, we dismiss it as an anomaly so that we don't have to account for it.
Both pro and anti Fulmer fans do it. Just a matter of degree.

the narrative going on in my head as i sometimes read posts on this board is saying nothing but "this guy is an idiot" "he has no idea what he's talking about" "he can't be serious?"We are all guilty of engaging in the narrative fallacy.
