Fulmer debate extravaganza (merged)

thanks for the elaboration.

the more i think about this i believe that the 8 wins may have predicated a bonus, not a condition of continuing employment. it has been a long time since i saw the terms of the contract.

i don't see how a $6mil buyout is an aid in ousting CPF, either. seems like one would negotiate a lower buyout if a firing was wanted. but LWS is usually money and i'm probably just missing a couple of the dots that connect all of this.

jmo, but a red flag went up when CPF managed to lose 3 games with a team that should have repeated as SEC champs in 99, another went up when UT found a way to lose the UF game in 00, a third went up when players were parading around with roses in their mouths after the UF win in 01 and before dumping to LSU in the SECC, and from that point fast forward to losing to Vandy at home in 05 to seal the losing season after preseason #3 ranking. i think that hammy pulled the trigger 3 years too late.

but, the above has no doubt been covered in some of the other 11,000 posts.

Talk about hitting the nail on the head!! I have to admit I've thought this since he "ran the score up on a mediocre Notre Dame team" then cried in the press "we should be number 2" then lose to a bad Arky team the next week. 99 was a telling year 'fo 'sho!

24-28 just like the year before.

Thanks coach Fulmer for helping us get to this plain awful situation we are in! Eventhough your Fulmerites say you shouldn't have been fired if you would have kept the program at a top caliper level you would not have been fired! Fact is you inherited a top notch and successful program and when you left it was almost as bad as the one your predissor inherited. None-the-less if you had earned your pay maybe you would still be the coach. Regardless the deteriation of the program and where we are lies with you!

So let me guess, you still blame Fulmer for something that happened 5 years ago? Let me guess this as well, you still blame the past 4 years of Obama on Bush right?

Was this really necessary?

Just like I would blame Larry Coker for Miami's downfall. But, figure this, when did the program start on its way down? And, who was captain of the ship? It was no where near the level it was when he left as it was when he took over-both recruiting and more important-success!

I am no Fulmerite, but I am 100% certain that the determination of our program and where we are right now lies more with Mike Hamilton than any one else. So you are either blind, deaf, dumb or butt hurt. Regardless, pay better attention and get your facts straight.:hi:

why are we still doing this.playing the blame game.can we let it rest.lets move forward with CBJ and keep the past in the past.GO VOLS....

The worst team Coach Fulmer ever put on the field was better than anything Tennessee has fielded in the last 5 seasons. Stop putting the blame on him. Fulmer didnt recruit idiots like Tyler Bray and Da-Rick Rogers. Fulmer didnt avoid the entire state of Tennessee as a recruiting pipeline. Fulmer didnt run off after one season.

The entire athletic program has been a joke for 4 years now. The AD and the hiring decisions they made as well as the universities general apathy toward sports as a focus of excellence is more to blame.

If we would have made the right hire upon Fulmer's exit, we wouldnt be having these discussions.

What if we had hired someone like Derek Dooley instead of Fulmer when Johnny Majors was fired and all the success of the 1990's never happened? Would people blame Majors for the demise of UT football? Blame the idiots that coached the team and the idiots that hired them, not the former coach.
