Thanks coach Fulmer for helping us get to this plain awful situation we are in! Eventhough your Fulmerites say you shouldn't have been fired if you would have kept the program at a top caliper level you would not have been fired! Fact is you inherited a top notch and successful program and when you left it was almost as bad as the one your predissor inherited. None-the-less if you had earned your pay maybe you would still be the coach. Regardless the deteriation of the program and where we are lies with you!

Pure idiocy. Although we may not be competing for national titles or SEC titles every year like some of you delusionalites think, we wouldn't be anywhere close to this bad of shape if Fulmer were still here. He didnt inherit a national championship team or every SEC or east championship team. You are just too young or too dumb to appreciate what we had. He had 2 losing seasons but I'd give anything to have one of those many 10+ win seasons he produced more often than not.

We asked a Hall of Fame coach to step aside for Lane Kiffin.

Sure sounds like something that could give you 7 years bad luck.

You know what I don't get? How people still blame Fulmer 100% for whats happening now. You would think that in 2008, Fulmer was 100% to blame. The following year, He was the majority of the blame, but not all of it because Kiffin did recruit players and coached. (For instance, the awful special teams disaster that year. Fulmer had no bearing or blame tied to that.) So for argument's sake, Fulmer 80% and Kiffin 20%. 2010, I would still say Fulmer had the majority of blame but not as much as Kiffin and Dooley cause, once again, Dooley had to coach and recruit, and Kiffin did damage. So Fulmer 60%, Kiffin 30%, and Dooley 10%. 2011, I would say Fulmer had some blame but not the majority and Kiffin still has some blame to share, but Dooley's grew most of all. So Fulmer 30%, Kiffin 30%, and Dooley 40%.

If you can see what I am getting at, for every year's results, good or bad, Fulmer's blame and involvement and relation to the team goes down. However, some people on here what to blame Fulmer for recruiting failures, Kiffin for attrition, and Dooley for coaching failures. That can't be the case. Each coach has to do with all three of those areas and you can't single out one coach because he was worse in one area than the other 2.

In the end, I admit that I loved Coach Fulmer. However I may feel, time has moved on and we must live in the present and must support our current Vols and Coach Jones.

I'll hang up and listen!

He didn't huh? Only one year removed from back to back SEC championships when he took over. Get more knowledge before you post ignorance!

Fulmer was hugely responsible for the 89 - 90 season as well. Or was it coincidence that Johnny's teams suddenly had a huge uptick in talent and profligacy when Fulmer became the #2 man?

We might as well give Monte Kiffin's son some credit for those championships as well. That's about the same level of ridiculous as blaming Fulmer for where we are today.

fulmer

95-34-1 record in the sec (did not include 92)

post fulmer

9-23 in the sec

it's time some of you pucker up and kiss his rear for everything he did at tennessee.

92 - 2001: Most of the wins generated against the opponents inferior coaching staffs. For example, DiNardo, Goff, Donnan, Scott, Dubose, Mumme, etc.
From those wins CPF used more talent that was recruited by his staff to overcome the deficiencies within the staff.

2002 - 2008: The rival programs began to upgrade their facilities, staffs and recruited similar or better athletes than what UT had in place. Once this began, the beginning of the end had started.

All successful teams have a strong #2. What happened to Fulmer when Cutcliffe left? The slide started.

We could do this all day and you'll get your azz handed to you on a silver platter all day

The talent started rolling in long before Fulmer became the #2.

We have a word for this kind of nonsense in the South...

Hogwash.

Not that you're anywhere near an expert on golf, but it's obvious you know even less about football

From the mid 1980s until the mid 2000s UT ranked in the top three of players on active NFL rosters virtually every year. Where do we rank now? 10

That speaks volumes but if that doesn't get through your skull, ponder this: Everyone else in the country is convinced about Fulmer, proven by the FACT that no one of any significance wanted him for their HC job. And before you make some ignorant comment about Fulmer not really wanting to coach again, his public statements claiming he had a strong desire to coach again are well documented

So you're saying Kiffin & Dooley were upgrades? Fact is he had over 150 wins at Tennessee in a little over 15 years. Where are we now? You're just a complete moron that spews useless info on irrelevant topics. The man won at UT. When times got rough, like it does everywhere, spoiled ass "fans" started crying. Well they got what they wanted & here we are.

I realize your opinion is emotion based and not one based on facts and truth.

Do I need to provide a list of all the great players recruited well before Fulmer was the no. 2? The NFL drafts?

Nobody gives a damn about the NFL. We only care about Tennessee in the SEC.

I didn't say anything remotely close that Kiffin and Dooley were upgrades. They both were duds for the program.

Useless facts?? :birgits_giggle: Those FACTS are extremely relevant

Like I said, you know even less about this than you do golf

What some of you need to get through your heads is that the ONLY thing that matters is what Fulmer would have done from 2009 onward. His 1992-2008 success doesn't go away just because you fire him. If you're bringing up his career record as if he was going to somehow repeat that, you're nuts.

That's right. Spin the 152-52 record in the SEC. Obama needs you to promote his healthcare bill.

Phil has been gone for 5 seasons. His coaching career is over. While at TN he did some great things. Brought us a national championship. He also did some bad things, let the program slip into mediocrity. I have hammered Fulmer on here for years but no more It is time, past time to move on. When I think of Phil I want to focus on the good memories he brought us and the man did bring some awfully good memories.

I now have my focus on Coach Jones and hope that he too will be able to bring good memories and hopefully a NC or 2 or 3.
