Fulmer debate extravaganza (merged)

This argument is easy. This year should decide Fulmer's future. I'm one that has been calling for his head for 2-3 years now. And not because I don't think he can still coach decently ,but because the rest of the SEC continues to upgrade (just look at how many NC coaches are in the league now) and continues to steal more and more of our potential recruits. I think its pretty easy to see that we are on the verge of trending downward rather swiftly if our next couple of seasons are disappointments. And I'd rather take action before we are SEC bottom feeders and a new coach is faced with the monumental task of trying to rebuild a national powerhouse in the most dominant conference in college football. We allowed him to bring in new blood this past year as a last ditch effort to prove his worth and decision-making skills. If it doesn't work out with some relatively concrete immediate results then we must find it in our hearts to let the man go.

Will Phil lead us to an SEC title in the next three years? I know this topic has been discussed before but just wanted to get some of the volnation's thoughts on this. I honestly think that we have a good team but dont see us having a team that can win the SEC in the near future.:banghead2:

there's absolutely no reason to continue ripping on this man's weight, regardless of his coaching performance.

i will add this to the discussion even though I know Lex and several other longtimers disagree with me:

Barring a bowl-less season, Fulmer will have two if not three more years to try and get that elusive SEC Championship.

absolutely classless to claim to be a Tennessee fan and refer to your head coach of 15 years like that. Come on man.. seriously?:no:

This is a Tennessee fan site. You couldn't select a different thread title?

I would say that is debatable. Plus, given how many of the "regulars" or "GURU's" on this site consistenly bash the guy in almost every form and fashion I wouldn't think that this thread would be greeted with so much anamosity (sp?)

WHen I saw the title I asasumed that LG started this thread. Let me say for the record that I have been one to poke fun at Phil's weight. After feeling very convicted I have made the commitment to never mention his weight again. Plus there's way too much material to have to go to something so obvious and classless.

Save a mere handful, most agreed not too long ago that is while we may be wary or down right tired of his lack of success, making fun of his weight was not the fair thing to do.

I admit I was a little over the line calling him fat. But hell Im a Tennessee fan I fan call my coach fat. Im sorry if I angered some of you guys. I didn't mean to be classless.
