I pitty you and people like you as fans.

It must suck to be you all on Gamedays. To not care about wins. To not get excited when winning big games if Tennessee already has a loss and is out of the NC picture. I can't imagine an existance where all I care about is the bottom line, especially when it is a statistical, realistical certainty that everything I want is more than likely not going to happen.

now do you really think we're here because we don't enjoy UT football?

I think you're absurd to continue finding ways to support a guy that can't win a conference title, but it's what makes you tick vis a vis the Vols. I want better for the program so wanting change makes me tick, but I root for the Vols just as hard on a weekly basis, even after they've taken their pounding at the hands of UF.

When you as a fan have reached a point that ALL YOU CARE ABOUT IS CHAMPIONSHIPS, you haven't grown complacent, you have grown unrealistic.
Two years ago, Mike Hamilton told us that he expected 2 SEC championships in football every 10 years. In addition, no coach in UTK history has ever gone 10 seasons without an SEC championship, without being replaced voluntarily or involuntarily. Therefore, if Phil does not win the SEC this season (highly unlikely in my opinion given his recent track record) then he is not living up to the stated expectations of his own hand-picked AD and he is not upholding the standard to which we as UTK fans became accustomed long before Phillip ever took over as hfc on the Hill. If anything has changed, it is the people like you who expect the rest of us to lower our standards to meet the head coach's performance. I'm sorry, but my brain just won't allow me to put the cart in front of the horse.

Even speaking more generally...if the effort was consistently there and they played like a well coached team I would be much more forgiving. Fact is I can't stand some of the "half-assing" that has been going on for the past few years.

It's ok to WANT Championships, but it's not OK to attack the character of a man that wins a high majority of his games as a coach and does his job in so many other areas. It's not OK to make fat jokes and act like 13 yr olds because we as fans won't have the "bragging rights" to pull for a National Champion. What else happens when the Vols win? Do you get money in your pocket? Do you get days off from work? Do you get anything at all other than satisfaction as a fan that your team has done well and acheived? Then why attack a man's career and lifeling commitment because you didn't get to brag AS MUCH for the last ___ years? My point in showing the big wins, is that those are things that the fanbase should be able to brag about and be happy for. When you as a fan have reached a point that ALL YOU CARE ABOUT IS CHAMPIONSHIPS, you haven't grown complacent, you have grown unrealistic.

I don't know if this was directed at me, but I was quoted in your missive. I don't recall insulting Coach Fulmer, nor have I called him fat, at least to my best recollection. If, as you say, it's become unrealistic to dream about championships, then we've fallen even further than I thought. And if that is the case, then why on God's green earth are we paying a coach over $2 million per year, plus perks. I will give the Coach the benefit of a doubt and say that it is his own expectation to win championships. If it is not, then he needs to go, because 95% of those young men he recruited came to Tennessee with that very expectation in mind. Imagine trying to recruit good ole Southern boys without that expectation. And that stadium filled with 107,000 orange-clad fans would be sorely disappointed if every season didn't begin with that very expectation.

To sum it up, I just don't want to reach the point where we become a trivia question:
"What team has the highest winning percentage this century without winning their conference championship?"

Interestingly, and not surprisingly the anti Fulmer crowd doesn't touch my post highlighting some of the wins of the past 9 yrs.

Every program has highlight wins in the last 9 years. So what?

But what does LSU, Florida, Georgia, Auburn, and even Alabama have since 99 that we do not?

It's not too much to expect SEC Championship wins. You can come up with all the excuses in the world, but it will not change the fact that Fulmer is entering his 10 consecutive season without an SEC Championship.

You two are the most unresonable posters I've ever seen on a message board.

If someone disagrees with your stance you two create and make up things that they never said and never intended to say.

Thats a pityful way to handle one's self.

If you would quit posting ridiculous statements like you did earlier, I don't think there's be an issue. I think I still have the right to disagree, don't I?

You sound like someone that fails a lot.

I love that someone with your username thinks other fans are idiots for caring about championships.

uhhhhh.....here's your silly post about people attacking his character and I'll follow with the even more worthless post about how those not of your ilk must be miserable fans.

I won't mention your silliness about nobody being 'willing to touch' your post of Fulmer superlatives.
