Fulmer Discussion (Merged)

I thought he was just using that as a generalization for smaller basketball conferences, such as the Horizon League. :dunno:

Probably so . . . but it begs the question: Even if you don't think Fulmer can put the program back on top, why would you want to fire him and then bring in an unknown commodity from a 1-AA school? Sure, sometimes you strike gold (Jim Tressel), but more often you flop (Jim Donnan, Gerry Faust, Hal Mumme etc.)

Bruce Pearl had won a championship at Southern Illinois in the division in which they play. He was not exactly an unknown quantity.

What I'm talking about is a football coach that plays in a lesser division than I-A who has proven himself over a long period of time.

Like I just said, it can work, but it can also fail miserably. I'd venture to say that if the Tennessee basketball program had been in the position of the Tennessee football program, right or wrong, Bruce Pearl might not have even gotten an interview.

None of this matters anyway. Fulmer is here to stay.
