Fulmer Discussion (Merged)

Both of the losses to Meyer were so close they could have went either way. Neither team dominated the other.

Well...being an NFL fan is a little different.

Yeah you have more chances to off set a loss. but there are other factors that can drive you insane. like say whackjob receivers, cheap management, insane playcalling, greedy players, even greedier owners, new publically funded stadiums, old decrepit fans who do nothing but shove SB victories from 30 years ago whenever they feel like they are losing an arguement and most of all Sean Sailsbury....Career Backup QB to NFL Expert.

i'm not really saying whose fault it is. it just pisses me off that we're o-2 against thie gimmick clown. He waltzes into the SEC and beats us both times. He wins on his first visit to Neyland. If you look at Fulmer's record against the best coaches in the SEC, you wont want to look again. To be the best, you've got to beat the best. Fulmer has shown that he cant do it.

true. he cannot beat richt, spurrier, and now meyer. he's a step below each of them.

nfl fans have it a TON better as far as putting so much of a single season into a single game. in college football, one loss ruins your entire season.

Thus every game is enjoyable. It's not fun to watch the Colts play the Cardinals at the end of the season when Peyton Manning and the rest of the stars come out of the game after one series.

At least you can take a loss in the NFL and know you still have a shot. Most of the time teams making the playoffs aren't decided until two weeks before the end of the season. I really can't say it would be better or more enjoyable though, considering that I don't care about the NFL. Maybe the importance of one loss does make college ball better. I know it sure does stink to have your favorite team lose though.

yeah, this makes me hate the way the NC is decided in college football. These 2 teams were so close tonight, its a travesty there is not a college football playoff, to give everyone an opportunity at the end of the season to play for one.

I know. But there is no equal seeding. Auburn runs the table a couple of years ago and thend doesnt get to play for an NC? Its flawed.

Amen, any team that goes undefeated in the SEC should atomactically be given the national championship trophy, because that is an accoplishment.

it has its flaw(s) but there usually isnt 3 undefeated major conference teams at the end of the year. I think they should at least adapt if that ever happens again but I think until then, we should treat the regular season as a playoff system.

If you want to blame coaches, blame chavis and cutcliffe. i saw the same thing in this game that has caused us trouble in every other florida loss. entirely too conservative play calling on offense with the game still on the line, and inability to tackle. you can make the argument that there were a few bad calls from the refs (i don't see how the first down at the end was not reviewed, the booth officials blew that one majorly) but terrible playcalling, mixed in with a decided lack of execution on defense when we GAVE FLORIDA THE GAME are as much on the coordinators as Fulmer. Long story short, we have a long way to go bunch.

Ah, I think you guys are full of it. Outside of running on first and second down on those few series, the Tennessee coaching staff outdid the Florida staff.

You mean to tell me that when your line is getting drilled the way that ours was and the way we had NO running game that these "great" coaches could have pulled off a win against a team like Florida?

You can argue that the preparations leading into the season weren't adequate, but I think our staff kept us in this game. We had a lot of weaknesses and some obvious strengths to Florida, and our coaching staff maximized those strengths with but a few exceptions. Florida, on the other hand, didn't max out their strenghts at all, IMHO.

Outside of that experiment with trying to establish the run so late in the game, we would have won this game. Yeah, you can lay some pretty heavy wood over that, but to come down on the coaching staff for the improvements I've seen in this team...that's ridiculous.

Colquit's trip and the block in the back kept us in the game.

You guys all seem to think that coaching has nothing to do with the OL's performance. Did it enter anyone's head that a big part fo the reason the OL looked so bad is because UF was stunting all night. When the Gators did get through you never knew where the pass rush was coming from, around the end or up the middle. You guys can blame the players all you want, but last night the Vols were straight-up out coached. Maybe Chavis and Cutcliffe make all their own calls but the buck stops at the top. I don't think the season's over, but I do see several teams on the Vols schedule who can play very good defense and UT is going to have to get a heck of a lot better if they want to finish 11-1.

And for all the Fulmer lovers out there, you know your man is walking the razor's edge this season and you knew those of us who want a change would be vocal again as soon as he dropped the ball. So get over yourselves and quit accusing people of not being a "real fan", jumping off a bandwagon, throwing away the season, etc. :hi:

Feel better now? I know you've busting at the seams for Tennessee to lose a game so you could start this slop up again. :zeitung_lesen:

If we were blown out I might consider going after the coaches, but it's just hard for me to blame them for a 1 point to top ten team.

No. I do not feel better. I'd feel better if the Vols had won and I think you know that. Thanks for the libelous personal attack though.

I'd like to believe that Hillbilly, I really would.... That's not a personal attack on you, you haven't seen a personal attack.
