Fulmer is still the best name.

If Phil Fulmer is such a great hire why hasn't he coached somewhere since his dismissal from UT? When you answer that you'll see why UT will not be hiring Fulmer back. Can someone please bring in the Thread Reaper?

Honestly, Fulmer would be better than some of the names being tossed around, but not near the top of any list hopefully. Lets not worry about that happening now.

He has everything we need to get the program back to being competitive and implementing a coaching search, and subsequent transition, upon his retirement.

Like marrying your ex wife. My dad did......divorced again. Stupid.

In this case: $tupid.
Based on recent years they should announce the hire in a few weeks.

Remember Wyoming? Jesus...

Remember last night? Remember Missouri? Kentucky? Remember the missed extra points? Remember Arkansas?

Those are all within the last year.

I would blaspheme too I guess, if I thought the Wyoming game had any relevance to this conversation.

Take your 37 posts and marriage analogy back to the squaw teepee. This is business. Not *****es.

Retarded thread. The only thing Fulmer had that we need is a good OC and DC. Without those Fulmers winning percentage would be hovering around .300.

You're right about this being business and if Hart has any sense he'll realize that even mentioning Fulmer for the HC position would be bad business. If that's the best that UT can do might as well just hire Dooley back.

Actually this is the most sensible thread I have read today. I can see only Saban as a better choice than Fulmer for us, today (ain't gonna happen). I think Chavis would be worth the head coaching risk as well, since no HC exp.

Fulmer would play the maxims. I know that for sure.

Fulmer was the winning-est active coach. He won more games than ANYONE for a decade. What is this .300 BS you are spewing? Go take some more meth you Alabama troll, no one cares about your toothless Forest Gump routine anymore. Texas A&M OWNS YOU.

PS: how are the leg braces doing?

Love him or hate him, Fulmer is the only bigname coach who would touch this job. With this vipers' nest of fans we have, no one else is going to come here, imo.

If Patterson said NO to 4.25 million, then I would hire Fulmer for 2.5 million and get back to recruiting asap. I think Fulmer would respect the work Pittman has done and he along with CJG would be retained. At 2.5 million, I think we could also let Fulmer see if Chavis would be interested in coming home for 1.35 million a year. We could pay similar money for a top OC. Martin could be hired to coach WR's. Dale Jones to coach LB's. Get some guys who love UT back in here calling the shots. Fulmer had said the restrictions on academics were hurting us back years ago. If Hart is fixing that, maybe it would get us back to being competitive in the SEC.

Lots of crow would have to be consumed on both sides in order for this to happen. I wouldn't hold my breath.
