Fulmer is still the best name.

It's time to get him back! He has been in his basement watching all this unfold for years! Sources say...he has big plans and will turn this program around and return it to it's former glory! A force the rest of the SEC will fear!

To my knowledge Petrino has never run afoul of the NCAA. Am I incorrect on this? Serious question, he might have gotten in some trouble that I'm not remembering.

Sure there's a chance he might burn us by leaving for a better job, but is that really any worse of a risk than hiring Al Golden or worse at this point? The further this goes with UT looking more and more desperate, the less leverage they might have with Petrino. Had he been their top target, they probably could have gotten him at a bargain price with a ironclad contract to protect themselves from the stuff he's done in the past. With each passing day though, UT loses more and more leverage because they can't get a decent coach to say yes to their offers.

Petrino has never had any problems with the NCAA.

Accomplished none of the above in the past 15 years....

CHECK!

2007 isn't 15 years.

I was totally on board with getting rid of Fulmer.

After looking at the options available, I would give Fulmer a look if he could bring back Chavis.

We are on probation for two more years. We need someone whom we KNOW is going to do nothing to harm us further. Truth be told, with the caliber of coach we are looking at it will take 2 years to see if they can even coach.

I would think that maybe benching Fulmer put a new fire in his belly. It's worth a shot instead of risking it all on a no name from somewhere else.

Bottom line: We are at a point, like it or not, that another coach failing dismally or bolting for another job is almost the death knell.

You guys do realize that there is a 0% chance that this will ever happen? Why waste your energy on a fantasy? The dude was fired and is still a sore spot for half of the fan base.

I'm one of those sore fans....because he was fired! Phil's biggest mistake was changing his offense away from what had been successful for many years. Had he been left alone, Phil would have resolved the OC problem and we would still be winning. His 2008 class of recruits was ranked as high as #3 class if I remember correctly. I have been a multiple season ticket holder since 1966 and was a big Johnny Majors fan, and still am, but Johnny made a fatal mistake by returning to coach the remainder of the 1992 season. These past 4 years is the worst I have been through in all my years of following the Vols. Maybe we should reunite the fan base by hiring both Johnny and Phil as Co Head Coaches, one for offense and one for defense. Johnny and Phil please just bury the hatchet and lets get the Tennessee Vols back to where we were....winning! That greener grass all the fans and sports writers were clamoring for is now a nice shade of tan. By the way, where is that petition, I'll sign it!

At this point why not. Fulmer as HC, Chavis as DC, Chaney as OC. Bring Tee back to 'coach up' with the goal of making him HC in waiting. Keep Graham and Pittman. Now thatttttt is a staff that loves UT and won't let it slip even further.

Man, what a sh*ttttttty day.

I understand and how did that work out for us. Now just keep on gambling. And everyone will keep on laughing at us.

Give me one fact that we are better today than when Fulmer left.

Our facilities are vastly improved and our athletic department's chain of command makes much more sense. I'm up to what, 6 facts now?

Can't say Dooley being gone cause at this point we may not win a single SEC game next year. Unless you have a crystal ball and know something. If you do tell us who's are next coach and what is our record going to be next year.

1 thing that points up.

Wait, what? That fact doesn't count because we're somehow going to find someone worse than Derek Dooley?

Okay.

Why the hell would Fulmer want to come back? We threw him away like trash and we treated a man who did so much for this program like ****. Why the hell would he want us when we threw him to the curb, its like your girlfriend leaving you for someone else then all of a sudden they want you back. Karma is a ***** and we are getting it bad.... Please hire Petrino or Tressel, if y'all ever want to win again.

UT also threw Johnny away like trash and Fulmer treated him like ****. Your right karma is a *****.

That's a quote? So he said that you said it was on its way up? Well, I'm glad we all agree.

I was just messing with you with this post, by the way. I was going to let you know I was kidding when you responded to it, but you didn't.

No the difference is that when Snyder RETIRED...he was still winning.....Fulmer was FIRED and wasn't winning and his recruiting was suffering......so NO he cannot....now he could be a good AD...bc he would have TN best interest n place....

Wrong... Look at Snyder's record. His last 2 seasons were 5-6 and 4-7 not winning records. When snyder retired he was Losing.

he got fired because the game passed him by and he played not to lose. and also because florida owned us during his time here and that is still sticking with us. why would we bring that back.

In today's age, Fulmer would be nothing better than a JC coach. No one would clamor to play for him from a recruiting stand point. He was getting out-coached BADLY in his last years. He would get murdered in present times.
