I had always thought it impossible for me to hate Vanderbillt more. This hypothetical proves my assumption wrong.

right, lol...I forgot he's a terrible coach and the vast list of candidates for Vanderbilt will have a better winning pct. and a national championship ring.

Just putting a little "former coach humor" in to the situation. His legacy (when he was known for being great) is 10+ years old. Looking at the big picture, he's not a great coach anymore, which really doesn't matter to Vanderbilt anyway.

College Football Live said a little while ago that Vandy has already and will continue to talk with Fulmer but also said is interested in ex Clemson coach Bowden.

really? Cause I'm pretty sure I heard them earlier say that two names they keep hearing pop up are Fulmer and Tommy Bowden but nothing they gave in there had to do or was about them actually talking to either at all

Fulmer isn't going to Vanderbilt....He already said he's only going to a place he can compete for championships....Vanderbilt is not the answer.

It's hard to imagine something that would be funnier in the world of college football than Fulmer going to Vanderbilt. That's pure gold.

I would like to see Leach in that position.... He could take his pick of which kids to put in the dark closet....

I tend to agree with LWS that CPF might not be looking anymore and while I disagree with your assessment and with the many others who would share that view, I understand it.

just a thought.... he wasn't hired in the last two offseasons, he's done. (even if not by his choice) Unless he waits then goes the Terry Bowden route and ends up in the middle of nowhere years from now

FoxSports LA is reporting that Lane Kiffin has a press conference scheduled for 6pm Pacific time to announce he will take Ed O and Monte to Nashville for his dream job at Vandy. With USC on probation, they are no longer a NC contender. And he guarantees a NC run by 2011. He will remain at Vandy forever, or until Boise State opens up

Fulmer has ties to Vanderbilt. He coached there in 1979. He went to Franklin High in Nashville Area. Like I said when I started this post, I have a gut feeling this is where he will be. He wont be on the sidelines til 2011 but he will officially start after Vandys season.

Fulmer went to Franklin County H.S., Franklin County on the state's southern border, not exactly the Nashville area, rather the Middle Tennessee area.

How many times has Vandy anted up and paid for a big name coach?

Well the answer is ZERO...And it won't happen this time either. That's why there Vandy. They have to be the cheapest school in D1!

well money wise they're still top half actually
