Fulmer Next Head Coach at

FoxSports LA is reporting that Lane Kiffin has a press conference scheduled for 6pm Pacific time to announce he will take Ed O and Monte to Nashville for his dream job at Vandy. With USC on probation, they are no longer a NC contender. And he guarantees a NC run by 2011. He will remain at Vandy forever, or until Boise State opens up

How dare anyone poke fun at Lane Kiffin! He brought 7 whole wins to our storied program. On the other hand, make fun of Phil about his waste line and you will get tons of laughs from all the intelligent Volnation posters who try to convince you anyone can win NC's at Tennessee.

If Tennessee can't hire better coaches than the likes of The Fired Coach, then we have more problems than we all thought. Just sayin'.

Isn't that cute how all the little Kiffin Krew refers to Fulmer as The Fired Coach? But we better not call Kiffin "Lame Kitten" or we will be told we are bitter and need to let it go.

To your comment though, I hope Dooley is a better coach than Fulmer. That would be awesome. If he wins a National Champtionship and has 151 wins over the next 16 and a half years then we will all be pretty excited.

If this were to happen, I would hope he wins most of those 150+ against Florida, Alabama, and other heavyweights versus beating up on weaklings like USCjr, Vandy, and UK.

Excited only if DD surpasses Fulmer's dismal record against the top five members of the SEC, excited only if he beats Fulmer's dismal record of no BCS bowls for a decade, excited only if he can manage much more than a top ten finish in a decade. Significantly surpass those lowly PF accomplishments and yes, excitement will improve.

If Dooley has the same winning percentage against the upper echelon of the SEC as Fulmer (.303), then I hope he doesn't last long.

just a thought.... he wasn't hired in the last two offseasons, he's done. (even if not by his choice) Unless he waits then goes the Terry Bowden route and ends up in the middle of nowhere years from now

Problem for Fulmer though is that he is now a little long of tooth, and he doesn't have those "years from now" luxury. He badly wants 200 career wins, but he wants them at a well stocked program where he can continue his ego trip. That isn't going to happen and he will have to decide soon whether he is going to keep (day)dreaming delusional accomplishments of grandeur, or bite the bullet and take what he can get, which won't be much

I think it would be a great fit or have leech there at least his offense would make Vandy's games more fun to watch.

I agree. The dude made TN a Powerhouse in the 90's. I love the decade of dominance dvd, although it makes me depressed how far we have fallen since then (which is Fulmer's fault). As much as he did for Tn, I don't think I would ever get on here and say mean things about the man that brought us a national championship. JMO though. More power to Vandy if they can get Fulmer, although I think it would be a mistake on his part if he took the Vandy job.

.

I don't get the "Lame Kitten" thing.

It supposed to be funny? Insulting? Calling him a kitten? Just because it sort of sounds like Kiffin? Really?

Sounds like something a 6 year old would come up with.

Very true Jaytrain. I was not arguing for validation of the specific term "Lame Kitten". It is a rather lame insult. In fact, with the exception of the OP I'm not sure that I have ever used it.

My point was all the little kids on here who call Fulmer "The Fired Coach" and think that is great will tell you that if you make fun of Lane you are just bitter and need to let it go and tell us all how much money he makes as if that in some way constitues his merit as a good football coach.

Personally, I think EO looks more like a kitten.

It even has his look of determination.

I tend to agree with LWS that CPF might not be looking anymore and while I disagree with your assessment and with the many others who would share that view, I understand it.

You disagree with an assessment that is accurate and proven?

Why would it be a mistake to take the only job offer he might be likely to get. Fulmer will jump at Vandy, if offered. I don't really think Vandy will be interested in him.

No way Vandy offers him the job. The grey hairs that finance the program would never allow someone with such deep Volunteer ties as Coach Fulmer to lead their program.
