The 2005 and 2008 teams he failed to get to .500 each had more talent than Vandy would see in 10 years.
Phil Fulmer will most likely never coach again....He honestly has no reason to.
I agree with you to a point. I do think it would have to be the ideal situation. Low stress, extremely close to Knoxville, and at a BCS school. Vandy has all of the elements that could (and I think might) entice Fulmer to consider coming out of retirement if approached.
With sucess comes complacency, but Fulmer does know how to get it done. He has something to prove to all of his haters in Vol-la-land, so in the back of his mind I'm sure he'd like to show everyone what he can do on the field again. I expect to see him get serious consideration for the job.

Vandy needs someone who can build a program from the ground up. I don't think that Coach Fulmer has ever done that. He did manage to keep the wheels on the bus of what he inheritied for 6-7 years, which is more than can be said for someone like Larry Coker.
I think a good first step would be to get a coach who can consistently win 6 games. I think Fulmer could give them that.
