Fulmer to Ark?

Wouldn't it be something If he did get the job and Ark won the west. You talking about a meltdown in Knoxville and on Volnation. But J. Long has to pass the interview process first.

Man. ....all the fulmerites would come out of hiding if he pulled that off.

I love Phil, but I'm pretty sure the meltdown would be in Fayetteville, not Knoxville.

You need to change his tie from orange to red, then it will really be believable. :whistling:

I'm not what you'd call a "Fulmerite," but the guy was a great coach for us, a great representative of UT, and fully orange-blooded. Isn't it about time everybody just wished him well and moved on? The reality of the situation was that he went through a rough spot that happens everywhere, and we weren't patient enough to stick it out. I don't remember Penn State firing Paterno when he had all those bad years. Anyway, stop bashing him already.

The only thing I won't like about it if he gets the Ark job is it will be weird seeing him on the other sideline when we play them. Florida managed to get through that with Spermier, so I guess we'll manage too.

Phil on Jan 26th 2012

He was linked to the Louisville opening after the 2009 season, the Connecticut opening after the 2010 season and the Kansas opening after this past season.

Now 61 with a fifth grandchild expected in June, Fulmer is a partner at NorthShore Management, a holding company in Knoxville that was founded by former Vols long-snapper Mike West. He will be speaking this weekend to residents and special guests at Garden Plaza of Greenbrier Cove.

“The longer you’re doing something else, the more comfortable you get with it,” Fulmer said. “I am certainly enjoying what I am doing and who I am doing it with, and it’s rewarding from the standpoint that you have more time in terms of a normal life. I still miss football and the highs and the lows that come with it, but my family and I have adjusted, and we’re all doing fine.”

It would be wise of Phil to stay away from coaching, he could easily tarnish his winning percentage quickly.

I have nothing against Fulmer. Was his time up here? Yes. But the best years of Tennessee football that I remember were when he was coaching here. I think most of us are just joking around anyway. I always thought it was funny when he said if he coached again , he would interview the school. They would not interview him. Who knows , maybe he was joking. It didn't sound like it though.

If I was AD I would give him an interview just to see who he would want for OC and DC. Fulmer got lazy, but he could have the fire back.

I will become a sunshine-pumping homer before Phil becomes HC at Arkansas.

I like the great orange pumpkin, if he gets the hog job we can call him the great red tomato.

Phil is interviewing them. The AD at Arkansas (or any school for that matter) doesn't get to ask him anything.
===============================

Fulmer is 10-5-1 vs. Alabama.

That's all Arkansas needs to know.

But I think Phil sees himself coaching either UT or Notre Dame in 2013. [Kelly was a super dumb hire in S. Bend and the Irish brass know it.]

Phil retired with a 75% winning average.

He could win 8 games a year (=75%) at any decent school for the next 20 years and never break a sweat.

[And, although I'm pulling for CDD, and I didn't like Phil's uninnovative offense and inabilty to improvise, he would have won 8 games a year here for the next 20years too.]

Except when he didn't 2/4 of his final years here.

This site is infested with peevish, iognorant little people that have never accomplished a thing. If the best UT coach of modern times has to go to Arkansas to be a coach, I wish him the best. I appreciate all he has done and is doing for our university. I am sure he would like vindication and he deserves it except when he plays us.

Good Luck Phil.

Duh! 8 games a year is really sounding good these days.

I know I could've put this in the Fulmer thread, but I thought it deserved its own since it's new material.

Anyway, he's apparently lobbying the AD (Long) for the job and has said he'll keep the staff together. This according to a well-respected Arkansas insider on their board. Got to say, if the rest of the staff is ok with it, I would definitely do it. I think Fulmer has a few years left in him if he can keep what is a solid staff together and recruit to a similar small recruiting base in Arkansas like he did at UT.

Would be a solid get for Arkansas if he can hold that staff together.
you lost me at "well respected Arkansas poster"
