Fulmer to Indiana.

bammers are pretty upset over the LSWho loss.

CPF going for an interview monday.

Some how they always manage to get my hopes only to let me down every single time (With the exception of the 2006 season). Remodeled stadium, and a potentially rabid/drunk fan base, it's time to flourish or atleast make a bowl every couple years.

If you're all in with IU football is probably time to take a step back. It never has been nor will it ever be anything more than something to do until basketball. Even when Bill Mallory was there and they actually won games, it was still an after thought.

I remember going to games as a kid to half empty stadiums and then catching early basketball practices afterward to packed gyms.

Fact is IU will never be able to bring in a big name coach because they won't pay for one. Their best hope is finding another Terry Hoeppner. It's sad on many levels.

Lynch certainly gave fans the moment by beating Purdue and if you're going to put your time in as an IU fan, that's all you'll get, moments.

Is it really necessary to start this inane threads needless bashing a guy who's been gone for 2 yrs? We've got Dooley...we're moving forward for the future.

If you think about it, this thread brings nothing of redeemable value to VN at all. Can we please cease & desist in creating these types of random-ass banal threads? Please. At this point, I'm almost begging.

+1 dumb thread.....

Since his name is mentioned for each and every lousy BCS job that comes open, I figured I'd go ahead and get out front and start a thread on his "candidacy" for the head spot in Bloomington. I'm sure he's preparing his questions for his interview of IU as we speak.

...I think the IU fan base, which is good all things considered, wouldgladly swap Lynch for CPF.

In fact a few folks that know me to be a "rabid Vol" posed that question, could CPF be successful at IU.

I don't know Indiana is not even the football state Tennessee is and to recruit nationally to come to Bloomington would not be easy. If Lynch goes I would expect IU brass to contact CPF for sure.

I don't have a problem with Lynch...of course with me it is IU basketball and TENNESSEE in everything else!

Go Vols

what is it about IU football coaching hires that makes you think they'd be anywhere near remotely interested in paying Fulmer the price he would require?

I wouldn't mind having Fulmer here in Bloomington. He'd be one of the best things that ever happened to IU's football program.
I tend to agree. As a Vol fan I was ready to see Fulmer go and glad he's gone but if he does coach again I wish him well (just not here). A lot of the older fans as myself waited a long time for the 98 N/C to come. Just saying a lot of miserable seasons up to that point, a lot.

The Big Ten is swimming in money from their network. It makes no financial sense to make the facilities upgrades IU has made, then try to hire a coach on the cheap.

until they do it, i'm not convinced they realize this.

what makes you think fulmer requires a decent salary? he has to be in desperation mode by this point.

If Fulmer went to Indiana, I'm not sure if he's the 5th or 6th best coach in the league. Big name for a school like Indiana, but his ability to coach and recruit a place like IU would be something I question a great deal.

I think he could have similar success as Zook is having at Illinois with recruiting and performance. This at IU would be a welcomed upgrade.
