It probably doesn’t help that my preferred reading matter for relaxation is noir police procedural, preferably Scottish (“tartan noir”) and Scandinavian (“Nordic noir”). It has broadened my dark imaginings immeasurably.

— fun fact: apparently the British (including British translators of Scandinavian, Dutch, Belgian, etc novels) call potted plants (like houseplants) “pot plants.”

This is really jarring when reading about arrested drunken suspects in the police station puking into the station “pot plants.”

Ok, sure, fathers do their part! I certainly didn’t mean to imply that it’s only moms turning grey in minutes.
