'17 GA ATH DeAngelo Gibbs

He def gone

Yeah.... that's why he's making an unofficial visit when he'll have almost no opportunity to recruit for UGA and will spend the better part of a weekend non-stop with UT players and coaches.

He may wind up with UGA... but if he was "def gone".... then he wouldn't waste his time visiting UT when there's no free game to watch and UT can't give him the royal treatment.

I really like that Gibbs, Holloman, and Fields will all be here this weekend. Butch may just work some of his magic.

Hopefully they'll tell em how the last Georgia stud threesome Cosey Coleman, Deon Grant, and Jamal Lewis did in their UT careers. All the while UGA still sucked and couldn't win a big game without Herschel before/since. Deon Grant was just in town and that's the first thing I thought of was how big those guys were to the 98 NC team

Y'all think any of the kids were recruiting would even recognize Kevin Costner? I mean I guess he had that recent nfl draft movie, but I didn't catch that one...

You are right , but these young men have seen Georgia on national tv and in the SEC championship game, while Butch was rebuilding UT.

We know the bigger picture because we are longtime fans. These kids live in the moment.
gibbs is looking at this very seriously. taking a lot of visits and watching the season play out and staying uncommitted. many may live for the moment but he's not one of them. a sign of maturity that UT could use. part of the big picture is it's against UGA,our rival on the field and off. we get a tremendous amount of talent out of that state and more than any other state. we can never let up in recruiting from that stand point and we need to roll into Athens this year and make sum mudholes in some dawg asses. it's statement time. that will help recruiting more than any sales pitch IMHO.

Not sure this one will be over until December. Seems like he genuinely likes both UT and UGA, so it may go back and forth until he has to decide. If Warrior gets a lot of PT and UT has a great season, I think we're right back in it. JMO.

you are exactly right. all the talk on this thread is pure BS! he's worth recruiting and staying after until feb. 17 even if he does commit. same thing for Higgins, Rodgers, etc.... we flipped Richmond in the last days. he's coming to Knoxville because he's interested in our team. all this BS about no big deal would tend to drive good recruits away,IMO.if you are loyal to the big orange you should be careful what you say on these sites when making negative statements about highly rated potential recruits. I guarantee you the staff won't give up on any of these good recruits. it's already been evidenced. coach scott got one from Miami last year close to signing day , (Williams, byrd).

Yeah, his trips to Knoxville around NSD had most including me thinking he was a Vol. Unfortunately it looks like that all changed.

Me too & he's my number one want for the next recruiting cycle! IDK why, but he just seems like he could play a Jalen Ramsey style of football. I'll take that all day everyday!

You really can't do that for every single recruit we don't get.

Sure, in the scheme of life it's not a big deal, but for the 2017 recruiting class, I'm convinced that it is.

Actually, evidently he can......and does.

I think the staff could show some posters in here the big board, we could literally miss on every single one of them, and they'd still chastise, mock and namecall any reasonable concern that another poster in here may have.
