Win or get buried in recruiting. It's that simple

Hence the doomsday scenario I posted a while back that has got me roasted unmercifully. If we don't win "big" this year. Butch will be toast eventually. It sucks too. There shouldn't be that much pressure on this season. There should be great recruits getting on board anyway. The program is obviously in better shape. It is not the dregs anymore, recruits should see a great opportunity to play for a really good program. It should not be this..meh..now.

I don't see how anyone can really argue with that. As for the roasting, if you post anything remotely questionable, butchna and his army of henchmen come and mock you. It's just the VN way :)

The problem is y'all see the sky falling before it's even clouded up. So what if we miss on every in-state recruit if we replace them with out if state recruits that are just as good? You're grading the class before it's even started being assembled. It's like judging a painting before the paints been applied.

I understand that. No one's saying the sky is falling though, just concerned with the recruiting so far.

It's like eating a chicken before the batters been fried!

Conn left to join his buddy Dabo at Clemson. Dabo hired him as an off field assistant. Georgia added a Class 7 (AAAAAAA) for 2016 and a bunch of schools got reclassified, and or moved into different Regions. Don't think that played much of a role in these transfers, but who knows. Parents move for lots of reasons, including for football. If the parents move into the district, which I believe is the case with these transfers, I'm not sure the GHSA can keep the kids from playing at the new school.

Buford is a City School and therefore are allowed to enroll kids from different districts. Part of the redistricting that took place was to reclassify some of the City schools that had a competitive advantage over County schools who are basically limited to players in their district...or at least county. Buford got bumped up to Class AAAAA.

I had forgotten that about Conn, you're right. Hope that doesn't sway some of our targets out that way.

Reclassification shouldn't have any bearing on eligibility. That's solely determined by student population. And Grayson is gonna be in a doozie of a region -- y'all, Archer, and Newton Co. all duking it out? Yeesh.

And yes, parents move for all sorts of reasons, but football is not allowed to be one of them. It has to be what they call a "bonafide move," and it can't be something like "oh I wanted to live with my dad because this school makes the playoffs" or "I don't want to run the wing T." Or at least they can't come right out and say it. And the GHSA can absolutely keep kids from playing at their new school. They're just not consistent with their rulings of what they consider to be a "proper/bonafide move."

That's good. Has this been in the media?

Yes along with one at Tennessee State. Coach Doug Matthews says that Butch will be very strategic about Satallite Camps, focusing on Middle Tennessee, Atlanta, Charlotte, and likely Virginia as well

Grayson should roll through the division. I think Archer is in for a down year, which is probably why Jamyest transferred over to Grayson. Archer lost EJ Price, Kyle Davis and Jamyest. I'm glad Conn left Grayson. From the outside looking in, it appeared he pushed the better players towards Clemson. Wayne Gallman played at Grayson. Chase Brice is the QB at Grayson and is committed to Clemson. Nkemdiche was committed to Clemson before decommitting and signing with Ole Mi$$.

In all honesty, several Georgia HS coaches did not have a great relationship with Richt and his staffs. Maybe it's like that in every state, but the feedback from the HS coaches since Kirby was hired suggest Kirby and staff are doing a better job showing the Georgia HS coaches that their players are wanted. I don't ever recall Richt flying around the state in a rented yellow helicopter and landing on HS football fields to visit kids. Doing stuff like that is how Kirby was able to flip Tyler Simmons from Bama at the last moment. I don't agree with all the crazy stuff coaches have to do now-a-days to recruit kids, but it seems like it's now part of the game and Kirby is much better at it than Richt.

Yeah.. seems like we're concentrating on lesser known guys right now, especially guys with speed who seem to fit what Shoop wants to do on D. Even the commitments from 4 stars at this stage are tentative. But
Butch and Co. are recruiting with a confidence and lack of urgency that only an elite program with elite facilities can. He'll close strong as usual, likely with a strong on-field showing bolstering his case.

Stick around. You are the best UGA poster by far on this site :hi:

There is a reason Conn pushed his players to Clemson, Conn and Dabo were roommates and teammates at Bama, they were on the 92 championship team. Also, Brice is Conn's nephew, he is all CU, Brice is due a bump in the ratings.

Per Hubbs
Speaking of visitors, Tennessee is expected to host one visitor this weekend and it's a big one as Rivals100 defensive back DeAngelo Gibbs is expected on campus Friday.

The Georgia product, and cousin of Nigel Warrior, still has Tennessee high on his list but recent visits, including one to Oklahoma, still have him considering other options. Don't count out Georgia as well as the Bulldogs are very much in this race, too.

Hope this takes the attention off of catdung's attempts at ruining another thread.

Hiring a top recruits family member to be the new team moped traffic on campus logistics coordinator is never a bad idea. Its a very important position that's got to be filled and pays 100 grand a year.
