'17 GA ATH DeAngelo Gibbs

I just don't get why this was the most important piece of his recruitment though? A cousin is on both teams. Is it that big of a deal to be on the same team as one cousin or another to him? Honest question to GFW or anyone else in the know. Maybe Uncle Dale needs to get in his ear.

Obviously, this is a key piece, is it THE key piece? No one but the family and DLo knows that but it is clear that his family is the one who has brought Reed up as they probably wanted Reed to be closer home to be able to watch him play. Key questions here is, did Reed and DLo talk about where to play, did Reed pick on his own, no one knows that answer outside the family. The simplest thing would have been Reed pick UT and all of the above would be answered and imho, the recruitment would have been over.

Gibbs is a great recruit. Don't know if he'll be a great player.

Even though I still think we get him, I don't know why folks are losing their minds.

The only can't miss prospect in this class is Tee Higgins. He'll have AJ Green like success in college and the pros.

Everyone else is in the same bag. We're hoping they are great players.

Higgins may be AJ 2.0. Or he may be Patrick Turner. Higgins has tremendous measurables against mediocre competition. Gibbs has handled his business against some of the best HS competition in the country.

I think it was meant more as....if we had both cousins on the team, it would pretty much solidify Gibbs coming here. Now that we and UGA each have one, it changes the dynamics of his recruitment. Doesn't mean we won't still get Gibbs, just that it would have been a lot easier having both on the team.

At least that's what I got out of it.

Why didn't Gibbs push UT? If Warrior is already there, Gibbs favors us, why would the cousin choose UGA if they are all close? Something seems off.

I would normally agree, but Reed is also a safety. Therefore, all 3 would play the same position, and there would be a crowd of cousins. If 2 were good enough to start, one would still be an odd man out. I am sure they would all like to play together, but they all also want to play. I am also betting that Reed looked at UGA's roster to see if he could play sooner. I don't know their situation, but we have Kelly, Berry, Gauldin, Griffin, and Warrior as possible safeties. All are juniors or younger.

Fort says we are still in good shape and that Gibbs' relationship is much closer with Warrior than it is with Reed.

This recruitment might drag out longer than we'd like-- and have more drama than we'd hoped-- but in the end, this is probably how it shakes out.

No. He's AJ Green 2.0. I have my ways and I'm telling you he's a certified stud. No question whatsoever.

This is the most sure I've ever been about a prospect. I'm even willing to concede Dobbs turns out to be a bust before I say that about Higgins.

He's a can't miss.

Higgins4Heisman has a nice ring to it...good alliteration.

Seems like, for once, you're in agreement with 95% of the posters.

Of course when you retell the story in 2 years, "I was the only one saying, I tried to tell them". Lol

I definately agree with you BaldBiker. It just seems like UGA thinks they have sealed the deal per their sites today. It sure would be have easier the other way around with all the family here.

The most hilarious thing about it is recruits are actually dumb enough to fall for Smart's future success at Georgia when he's never coached a down in the SEC. Georgia will always be the most overrated team in the country. They recruit Bama talent every single year and still can't win a damn championship. It's downright comical on how pathetic that program really is.

I would think he and warrior would be closer since they are close in age and grew up together but in the end I think he commits to us
