'24 GA ATH Kamron Mikell (Colorado commit)

Yeah, people don't want to accept that the University of Colorado hasn't received 280 million ACTUAL dollars. a good chunk of that 280 is projected marketing value, as in free advertising. not actual money in their pockets.
It's that Mile High Smoke $$ bringing them to Colorado

Colorado sold their soul for it and the bill will become due. That's a them problem.
They earned more money this last season than they had the previous 3 combined.

It's a little rough what he's doing, but they're moving in a positive direction.

He's getting more talent there than they've had for years.

X and Os can improve with hiring better assistants.

Disagree. They'll be in the pits when he leaves or is fired.

He's not getting more talent there. Signed 5 kids. Transfers are a rotating door. "Better assistants" aren't going to Colorado. If anything it's the opposite. They are leaving because it is toxic. We will have the opportunity to find out for sure though.

What are you smoking? 25 high school kids are not gonna change Colorados record this year... He signed the number 1 portal class in the nation. That results now and that translates into being able to recruit high school kids next year. Also a lot of the guys he brought in have 2 years left.. thats a bridge. He can grab a QB from high school and one from portal next year and be ok. Its not like they play in the SEC they are big 12 next year. YOu want to find a reason to hate so you do. If you look at the top 10 in portal recruiting those schools are not in the top 10 in high school recruiting because thats how math works.

UT is ranked in the 30's in portal recruiting and 12 in high school but the reality is different. The guys we recruited on the team are gonna be more impactful than any high school kid we coulda brought in could be. There is no kid in high school thats gonna replace Cooper or Spraggins or Campbell.

Some positions take time like the line to develop. He could have recruited hte top 5 olinemen from highschool and it would not have the effect on the feild as the portal guys he brought in for next years results. That's a fact. If you're a school like a UT or UGA or LSU you can depend on high school talent because you have time to develop them. They will wait because there is pedigree. Colorado does not have that yet. Trust me this is not their long term plan its getting them going. I have no idea how it turns out because no ones ever done it because this is all NEW. The situation he came into at Colorado is 1 of 1. All the pieces have to match. HE as a coach is bringing NIL money in. His name alone will bring some recruits. Can he capitalize on it and show results. Its not just his sons. He has quite a few other NFL players he brought to that team. Guys that will be in the league in the next 2 years. Once he has that resume.... things get interesting. But he does have an outsized personality. Can he balance that? So far he has proven he can..... for decades.

Ok great. He went 4-8 and that gets you fired at any school who actually cares, regardless how long you've been there.

Again, I reiterate: If anyone here has real info, post it. Otherwise let's quit bumping the thread.

What was his avg. players score in the portal? What was ours? Back to the total score validity as a tool question.

When I looked it up we were one of 4 teams in the top 25 or so to exceed the 90 threshold. Just like in the HS RANKINGS. You can sign 50 3 stars and beat guys with a bunch of 4 stars in their mix. Guess you can purge your whole roster and sign 85 transfers. That should get you the prize.

Results? Do you hear yourself? As for the future, two years and he's gone but no HS kids, then what? A **** ton of portal kids AGAIN? We've seen movies like this before. There is no long term plan for deion at Colorado. He leaves and they're toast. His goal is to leave and likely soon. I don't think he will have the squad to prove he should take the next step and then the chicken come home to roost. Replacing the entire OL isnt headed for immediate success.

I was not comparing them to us was using it was a comparison of how the classic way vs his way. Colorado is not gonna be competing even with UT for years. he is trying to compete in the Big12 not the SEC. People are stuck on average fandom.. like he is gonna win a natty in 2 years.

I will use a better example of what he has proven. He made JSU a legit mid-major power. From a HBCU power. He changed their future of that program. They basically had decent public High school facilities when he got there. The only bowl game they had ever played in was 1971. He took them to 2 and went 11-2 and 12-1 his 2 years there. Before that they'd won 10 games twice ever. 2023 they went 7-4 but they are still consistently recruiting 3 and 4 stars (something new to the program). this is an HBCU in the SWAC. As a person who attended and graduated from one I will tell you our band wins the games the football team rarely does. Losing homecoming games was a thing that happened regularly and no one cared as long as the band showed out. Now they win and players with stars want to go there and other HBCU's. Deion played a role in bringing that awareness. At a school like UT upgrading the Athletic facilities affects the Athletic department. At JSU it affected the whole campus. He did a thing. At Colorado he won't have that effect but.. if he can get to a bowl this next season and build on that... it gets interesting. He carves a new niche and its all NIL and the portal. I honestly think that bland coaches are gonna be a dying breed. NIL/Portal is the death of the Sabans and the birth of the Kiffins and Sanders (I personally think that CJH straddles the midpoint of that divide) We are gonna see a lot more former player coaches coming up the ranks. Guys with outsized marketable personalities. Is that a good thing? Probably not, but it's what it is at this point. Its gonna be another few years before it all settles down but this is the new college football.

Yeah, maybe they make it to 5-7 next year.

Where do you get this 2 years thing from? He has publicly stated he wants to retire at CU. He never said that at JSU. If he did go to a bigger college it would actually be scary. Like it or not he has pull. Deion has something a lot of coaches do not. he played with or for a lot of these guys. They know if they come in they get to coach. He is not a hands on X's and O's coach his assistants run their guys. He was a player at a high level. He knows what works because hes lived through it from FSU the the Falcons to the Niners to the Cowboys to the Ravens and to the Commanders. He has seen good programs and terrible ones. He can relate universally.. to players to coaches from a place of respect. He knows the sponsorship game, the ups and downs. How many coaches have that resume? Hate it or not he is something we have not seen. How many hall of fame players went on to be Head coaches at a high level? It's a short list of less than 20 and only a handful of them did it on color TV. Deion is blazing a trail. The question is where the trail leads.

He's spouted off about how important hbcu is for kids to attend instead of p5 then bailed the first offer to suspect Colorado and you are taking his word about retiring at Colorado?!? Lmao

I think your reading this perceived respect card prematurely. He's starting to get a bad rap in coaching circles which is why he has to hire Warren Sapp. That's for the culture though, right? Dude is fraud and time will prove it. Just don't be astonished when it does.

If the current court case stands, I think you can transfer as many times as you want without sitting out. Of course that could change.
It’s crazy and I was talking about this with someone who use to be a compliance coordinator at a SEC school. Does signing a NLI even mean anything now? If you can transfer as many times as you want without sitting out, what does a NLI even mean other than reserve a scholarship spot?

They were in the 90’s.
They were ok on recruiting in the 90s and had a few classes. But they mostly did more with less. Their best recruiting asses actually happened in the early 2000s right before the downswing. They were no bad in recruiting like they have been since joining the pac12 they had done top 25s but they were not bringing in top 15 classes. They'd get a couple good guys each year and the rest 3 stars. Kinda like early.

The Deion fanboys display cult-like loyalty to him. It’s fascinating to see, especially given that the tea leaves suggest that the culture in his program isn’t the healthiest in the world.

Maybe he pans out well in the long run, but I think a lot of the Deion die hards are going to find out that he is a fraud and isn’t capable of successfully running a college football program at the power 5 level.

They earned more money this last season than they had the previous 3 combined.

It's a little rough what he's doing, but they're moving in a positive direction.

X and Os can improve with hiring better assistants.

The uptick in money they made is based solely on Deion mania. That won’t last if the product on the field doesn’t improve significantly. 4-8 is more or less on par with what Colorado has been the last ten years, so there was very little improvement to speak of. Money won’t keep flowing in for a losing product.

He’s trying to build a program off of mostly rental players and that isn’t going to elevate the program significantly. It may buy a decent year here and there depending on the quality of the transfer players. There are some transfers who were good players at their previous stop and will be good at Colorado, but there are just as many who transferred because they weren’t good enough to play at their previous stop. You can’t build your program off of other school’s rotten leftovers.

As far as his coaching staff goes, he had a lot of turnover after just one season. Some degree of turnover can be healthy (the OL coach for example) but it was excessive at Colorado. When there is that much turnover after just one season, it will be hard for him to hire better assistants. What good coach wants to go to a place where four or five assistants either were told to leave or left on their own after one season?

I’m not going to go so far as to say that Deion will fail at Colorado yet, but anyone who doesn’t have their head buried up Deion’s backside should be able to see that there are some severe flaws in how he has run his program to this point. It’s early enough in his tenure that can correct still course, but I wouldn’t bank on that happening.

I wouldn’t be surprised to see Colorado take a step next season and go 6-6 maybe 7-5. I also wouldn’t be shocked if they drop another 4-8. By no means is Deion anywhere close to the hot seat, but the trajectory of his program hinges on getting the most out of Shedeur’s senior season in 2024. Have a winning season, then they have something to build on. Go below .500 again and all of a sudden the hype that once surrounded Deion will be replaced by a lot of questions.
