Immediately after Pappoe shut it all down I remember seeing a few posts on here and TOS saying that Owens parents shut UT out. Also it was reported by VQ that UT coaches were no longer allowed back in the Pappoe house. IDK about you but when I was in high school I wouldn’t be able to dictate who was allowed to be in the house. I think that might hint that his parents really did just totally shut down UT.If someone told the same story about a recruit who signed with UT, we’d laugh at them. Not saying AV made it up, but somebody made up that story. It’s too juicy and guilt-driven to make you feel sorry for him.
Sorry it has been hectic few days. A lot of really bad beats. But in the end you have to take every shot and just trust what these kids tell you the night before knowing very well we (and I mean WE) may still strike out...that is recruiting in the SEC. I don’t mind any negative folks talking about missing on predictions...I did exactly like I always do....tell you where these kids have told us they were going the night before they sign....if it happens great...it not it is simply part of college recruiting.
Deal here specifically was he wanted to be a vol...told us he was a vol. the barn got in and had conversation with his family. The next thing you know the father and mother are now telling the kid that the family will no longer let him in the house and be a part of the family unless he honors his original commitment. So you see what happens. Truly a sad situation.
Honestly we were on the verge of loosing some thought to be SOLID commits down to the wire that took a LOT of effort to keep committed day of. I am still happy with this class and there are still 2 to 3 fish we are going to throw everything at to keep them solid with their word.
At least he kept his commitment. May have not been his decision though.Sorry it has been hectic few days. A lot of really bad beats. If Phillip Fulmer finds out, Auburn will be destroyed. If you think our AD is going to sit back and let this happen, the way he hates the state of Alabama, then all of need to go and jump into a lake somewhere where it is 30 below. He tells Wanya, Wanya tells coaches and staff, coaches and staff tell others...
At this point, he's signed, sealed, and delivered so he might as well go all in on Auburn. Very easy for me to believe he was torn and wanted to join his friend here.
I could see it but take out the drama of a high school kid telling the story. Reality would probably be closer to a major guilt trip over how much ___ would help the family.Oh I don’t disagree with you. He was stoked about Auburn it from 12/5 on though before he signed. It’s just the bit about his family disowning him that doesn’t jive with me.

But accounts always seem a little embellished at that age.
Forget any butthurt. Auburn's entire class seems a little suspect given the whole of the situation down there.
I’m telling ya...I don’t doubt that some of these schools threaten to be able to get the parents fired from their job or something along that line. Still don’t understand how parents can force their kid to go somewhere he doesn’t really want to be, and especially when you know that coaching staff may not even be there next year. Smh! Unreal.WOW! That is an incredible sad story. What parents threatens to kick their kid out of the house over which college HE wants to play for. I don't care if UT wasn't even in the picture this is just not good how you teach your children how to make there own decisions. Help them, advise them at his age but he needed to go where he wanted to play ball and get his education. just a shame.
True....but if your parents had sacrificed a lot for you to be where you were, I doubt most people would just turn their back on their parents. No one knows the parents financial situation...If my parents told me that I couldn’t sign to with another school, then I would pack my bags and moved out anyways. If I knew that all I had to do is be an EE, then I would just go and get my dorm room, and be done with it.
