'19 GA CB Warren Burrell (Tennessee signee)

Does not have any bearing on what will happen on the field. You want to talk lack of development? Okay, Dooley didn't develop those guys either.

Fact is the same. 2018 team is better than the 2013 team. I don't even remember how we got onto this discussion, but Butch had a crappy roster and he recruited very well for that 2014 class. yes, he had some legacy players, but Pruitt and staff has far more contacts in the south than Butch did. If Butch could recruit top 10 then I see no reason why Pruitt can't.

True. The former players I know believe Jones recruited better players, and while Dooley didn't make it, his staff developed what they had better than any Jones fielded.

If Pruitt shows signs of being competent he will be fine recruiting. Jones wasn't some master recruiter. On paper he showed progress and his class slipped after the 2 top 5's for a reason. UT has plenty to sell and he land the job at a good time for legacies and high rated instate guys.

I’ve said top 10. Don’t expect top 5. I think Pruitt would rather have other guys than some we have committed. But I also believe he thinks they can help us in case he doesn’t land those other guys.
Right which is all that matters. I’ll trust these coaches until they give me a reason not to but right now, based on their resumes, I am very confident they’ll get us back to where we all want this program to be. Gotta start somewhere though and 3 stars make up the foundation of most college football programs

Bass..you're being blockheaded about this. These players don't exist in a vacuum for one thing, another thing is if this "roster" is better, it is only marginally better.

I have full confidence in our coaching staff to get us to a championship level. We all just want it faster than its probably going to happen. Who knows, he wins 8-9 games this year, we could do even better than we expect come February.

No doubt about that

There is more "potential" on this roster than 2013.
It's poorly refined in several ways. From toughness and attitude, to technique, and just physically being prepared to play in this league.
You can fix some of that in the short term assuming you have a roster full of guys embracing that change. If not, you re closer to 2013 than he thinks.

No we’re without a doubt the biggest meme on r/CFB which has 450k college football fans. Texas is probably second. Florida is catching up with all the arrests

Oh? We’re going by MEME factor? Ever think that if they know about you and make up something to laugh about, that you’re top of mind and threaten them in some way? What about the teams we obliterated in “meaningless” bowl games for three straight seasons? They not mean enough to joke about? I think it’s the mentality of our most fragile fans to want to be THE BEST at something...so they reach for BEST at being a “laughing stock”. :wink2:

The 2017 Vols were one of the most uninspired, unfocused, poorly coached, poorly conditioned, poorly developed and unconfident teams you will ever see. I would expect far more inspiration, focused, better coached, better conditioned, better developed and a far more confident team in 2018.

Last year's team was just a few plays away from a bowl game and although Pruitt may be telling a lot of people that UT is going to struggle this year, I'd bet the farm he's singing a totally different tune behind closed doors.

When UT heads to Athens 4-0, Butch should send every player on the team a letter of apology.

Exactly what I'm saying.

You must not remember that 2013 roster.

Maybe I have blocked it out. I am not going to go back and research it. I am just trying to remind you that your opinion is not a fact, regardless of how strongly you feel about it. I have seen some analysis in the XLII thread that lends credence to your opinion. It still does not make it fact.

Any idea how many of these are our own "fans" making fun of us? I bet there are a few.

still trying to figure out how what we have returning has anything to do with how well Pruitt recruits this year or how well CBJ recruited in '13.

If anything if you have a worse roster you can sell playing time more so CBJ had an advantage there.

Yep, I agree about starting out 4-0. Been calling 8-4 since the spring game and getting the grad transfers we’ve picked up plus a few late additions is definitely gonna help tremendously. This coaching staff can do big things in year 1 with their coaching experience.

I heard a rumor from a guy that played a golf outing with Pruitt a few weeks ago. He said bet the farm on UT against WV and UF. Even if the lines were straight up.
