Well yea that was point. The risk of transferring comes with sitting out and imo that’s appropriate

That's a football issue tho. After reading through the last several posts in this thread the risk was tied to credits not transferring and graduations likely being delayed which is an academic issue.

There are risks in both when a situation is not working out. Academically or Athletically.

Obviously things are far from perfect but as I pointed out earlier the consequences for coaches leaving are there in buyouts.

Imo I’d be fine with players getting a free one time transfer without sitting if the head coach leaves.

That's not comparable because the coach more often than not is not pulling that buyout $ out of his future earnings. If it was mandatory that they did by law it would be a consequence and one that would make job jumping a lot less prevalent.

The rules are not the same for both.

I was just giving a reason the ncaa wants less transfers

School.

Obviously I'm not smart enough to realize I could be forfeiting credit hours and set myself further from graduation by changing schools and or majors.

I worked 30+ hours a week through college (which I didnt finish) and was also in the middle of changing jobs when it happened. It's not like there were not other distractions going on in life.

You had to sit out a year from school itself? That sucks. Has nothing to do with any of these kids or the ncaa though. No one is sitting out of school here.

Due to our history with the NCAA, my attitude is this IS NOT happening until it happens.

My attitude is the same with the SEC office as long as it is managed from Tuscaloosa.

Charger, further to your comments:
(1) I think it was in the 1970's, the NCAA changed the rules to allow freshman eligibility. Before the rule change, freshmen couldn't play in varsity games. So, basically the NCAA acknowledged over 40 years ago that the acclimation period wasn't a big deal for new guys on campus. And there surely isn't a tougher transition for a new guy transferring from another college vs. a new guy right out of high school.
(2) The NCAA's priorities are to maximize profits for the universities, and promote fair play with respect to eligibility, recruiting, student athlete benefits, transfer rules, playoffs, etc. Maximizing profits is their first priority, fair play comes in second. Looking after the athletes' welfare is a distant third priority. The transfer eligibility rules were loosened because the athletes are gaining leverage against the NCAA, not because the NCAA WANTS to treat the athletes better. So, just keep in mind that the NCAA is representing the interests of university bureaucrats.
There’s no rhyme or reason to some of their decisions either. It seems some programs definitely get preferential treatment though. NCAA seems to exploit their athletes for profit more so now than worry about their welfare.
