He's probably the #1 high school coach in the Southeast - at least from a "name" perspective. He's done it at a very high level for a very long time.

He's a tough nosed guy and has gotten in some trouble for it before. He's also had some affair issues and had to resign from Hoover as a result. I think we'd be naive if we thought that wouldn't be used against him on the recruiting trail.

All in all, I think the WR spot is one of the easiest to coach and it's very likely they'll hire an "analyst" with a focus on receivers to mitigate any problems there.

I'd rather have a more experienced WR coach but I will defer to Pruitt.

Interesting that Rush is in Knoxville today, and yesterday out of nowhere JJ announced he is committing on Saturday without visiting.

Sounds like Rush is about to be hired.

I doubt there is a HS program he is not familiar with in both the state of AL and GA. I am sure being one of the top coaches in both states a few HS coaches may not like him but I bet he has some great relationships with most of the top programs in both states that would benefit and SEC program. I think he could become one of UTs top recruiters especially with his knowledge of the programs in those states.

High school HC's in GA quit their jobs to get on his staff. His DC this year quit as Walton HC before the season with an eye on college jobs down the road. Walton is usally a top 10 team in 7a and the wealthiest public school in the state.

What do you make of the academic fraud accusations against Propst? I only vaguely remember hearing about them several years ago and never really followed up on what came of it.

Pruitt has offered him. Butch Jones never would. Tells you the type of players Pruitt is going to recruit to Tennessee. Pruitt and his coaches will be a beast in recruiting. That will get us back on top.

He was never charged with it if I remember the final findings but it was 2 other people at the school. Now supposedly he had an affair with the one but who knows. I mean none of us are naive to think these HS All Americans are all rocket scientists and with the sliding scale these athletes are allowed to use to qualify how much help do they really need to stay eligible and play at the next level.

Either way the players seem to buy in to his coaching and he seems to have a legit concern for them being successful.

I don't know if that's true. You going to tell Trey or Nigel or some of these other guys they aren't legit alpha dogs? Let me know how that works out for you.

I think the issue was Butch is just an odd ball. I don't get his appeal to players. I think he offered a lot of talented players, but I don't think Butch measured up against the 'really for real' football coaches out there.

So I think if an individual didn't have immediate ties to the university, if Butch came into their living room, then Dabo or Saban or CUM or whomever else did... it wouldn't be hard for the player to figure out the clown of the bunch.

I'm onboard for like 99% of the Butch hating, but come on, saying he was afraid of 16-17 year old kids is beyond absurd. Let's use our brains for 2 seconds here people.

Agreed that he announces for Pruitt at the game but we have three weeks to turn him. Not probable but very possible nonetheless.

Would love for that to happen, Breeze. The main concern I have is, if indeed he`s truly a lost cause, the time and effort that would be better spent on a quality kid for which we have a truly better chance.

Maybe control is a little too strong of a word, but after seeing him here for five years, seeing who got playing time and who did not, etc, it sure seemed that those who drank the most Butch-Aid got the most attention. Some of those guys even spoke with the same Butch-isms when they were at the PCs.

There's a lot of straight-up ballers that want nothing to do with that. I think Butch would pass on those guys. It's just my opinion.

I wonder if "compliant" was part of Butch's profile. Maybe he didn't handle the strong-willed ones very well. Even as I write this, I'm thinking he obviously didn't. Maybe CBJ knew that and if one seemed strong-willed, he just passed.
