'18 GA LB JJ Peterson (Tennessee signee)

On why he decided to make his decision/announcement now:
“I want to make my decision now so I’m not wasting people’s time and holding spots at schools that could go to other players."

On how important his relationship Coach Pruitt and the other assistants is to his decision:
"That’s my guy. Him and his staff, those are all guys that have been recruiting me so they’re all my guys. The other people that are trying to talk to me now, they’re just stepping in so no matter if you do say l love you, you good bro, how about that, you just started. I haven't been with you since my 11th grade year. I haven't been with you. It’s hard to build a relationship with someone you’re just now seeing and you’re about to go to college."

On his plan for official visits:
“I’m taking my official to Tennessee Jan. 12. That’s the only visit I have scheduled.”

On a potential trip to Alabama:
“I don’t have them scheduled yet.”

On if he will take other visits at all:
“I might just shut it down and keep working and just stay low and work on school.”

On his connections to Tennessee/potential impact:
“I haven’t been there yet. I Just know everybody up there. I have Shawn Shamburger and Ja'Quain Blakely up there, when I played with them at Colquitt, how I played, it made them better ... When I played with them I had them up more at another level. When they came down they told me it’s not like that up there, but they know everybody, so if they know everybody and how I bring that energy, I might change all of them."

On the chance to play early with the Vols and how that might factor in:
"At Tennessee they’re saying I have a chance to come in and play and that’s what they’re saying at Alabama. But you’re Alabama, I know I can’t come in and play right away. My homeboy is there, Xavier McKinney, he’s one of the best players I’ve gone against. He’s a great player and he didn’t even play, so I’m like, if he didn’t even play when they were up, so there’s something wrong. I don’t want to get up there and just not get a chance. I don’t care about playing but I just want a chance and if you get a chance I’ll make something happen and if not I won’t do it."

5 days ago he said Petersen could become a 5 star. JJ then tells him this morning he’s going to be a Vol and now Woody is saying he’ll eothwr stay the same or drop a little.

It’s so obvious
where is he saying that? JJ was literally in an article that was about players who could get their 5th star.

People are calling him out on it in the thread about him talking with JJ in San Antonio. He’s walking it back now tho in his latest post

Woody is not saying his ranking will drop at all.

I have no idea what is going to happen. Is that better? Or do you want to continue to hijack the thread?

I'm not sure if he's going to be higher, I doubt he will be lower. That's all I can tell you. I don't make these decisions by myself.

That’s where he walked it back as I said. Read earlier in the thread. He started getting salty

Yeah he said he "won't drop significantly". I took that as clearly meaning he MIGHT drop a spot or two & stay around 70th in the country.

Still has a chance to move up.

Farrell’s take: “Peterson isn't the biggest linebacker, but he has good length, covers a lot of ground and is good in his drops. If he can showcase his coverage skills during the week and then hit everything that moves in the game, he has a shot”

Farrell on 5 players that could jump to 5 star this week.

"If he makes every tackle, scores every touchdown, gets engaged with the hottest cheerleader, and cures cancer then he will definitely be in consideration for his 5th star... or he could just commit to Alabama or Georgia."

Four-star LB JJ Peterson (#2 OLB, #44 overall) isn’t committing until the Army All-American Game, but said today, “I’m going to Tennessee” to play with high school teammates Shawn Shamburger and Ja’Quain Blakely. He was recruited by Pruitt at Alabama.

Lol, my favorite recruit. No games, no drama. Just ball. He probably hates the recruiting process.
