'18 GA LB JJ Peterson (Tennessee signee)

If he can’t make it in this fall, any chances this could turn into a greyshirt situation like Bama pulled off with Scarborough a few years back?

Probably wishing he’d signed with Bama now. At this point he’d have a new Dodge Charger and straight A’s on his report card

High school requires such a minimal amount of effort to pass with decent grades. I will never understand how these kids manage to fail to qualify. If you just show up and complete 3/4 of the work, you pass...and probably get a C

Preach it brother. Unfortunately I’m a perfect example of that. Had a few offers out of high school mostly d-2 stuff and d-3 but where all I did was the minimum to pass I couldn’t get into some schools because of grades, so settled on the 2 year school route. I coach a little ball now and preach all the time about keeping grades up. Anything below a “c” is unacceptable. I tell them it’s hard enough to get scholarship offers for sports in college don’t let bad grades make it harder.

Ok. Irrelevant in this case because getting a C isn't good enough. Reportedly He needs a better grade to meet the sliding scale. Likely an A.

And besides you really have no idea what this particular class and instructor require for such a grade.

I think the point is there’s no excuse for getting to a point where you have to ace one HS class to qualify to play

I am sure there was a time where he "should"
Have done better but let's face it every damn kid in the world faces times of regret. In this specific case at this point in time it might be very difficult to pull off an A to make this happen.

Many many kids are borderline on the sliding scale because they aren't great test takers with the ACT and when you put pressure on improving a core class in a short summer school setting it isn't easy. So I am not going to Cast stones at this kid like the OP for this specific situation.

When Bruin is the voice of reason y'all have a problem. :eek:lol:

Seriously well said. Very possible he got a very good grade like a high B or something but was just a point or 2 away from what he needed. Now everybody continue with their BVS panic attacks.:hi:

Hope he gets in. Good player. If not - the slot is open for another good player.

We're due for some good things. Pruitt had to know his situation. Improving the grade is probably just to remove any obstacles he may have encountered.

If you do 3/4 of the work that's automatically a B+

3/4 of their time is devoted to meeting girls. That only leaves 1/4 of their time to divide between every other endeavor in their lives.

So he sounds like exactly what our D has needed for quite a while, but yet he can't get in...... sounds about right with UT's luck and players the past 3-4 yrs....

Patience is a virtue ... in short supply on Volnation.

My child worked like a dog for good grades. It is my opinion that parenting or lack thereof are a major factor in academic scores. Let's don't put all of this on 16-18 year old kids having foresight and wisdom.

I feel like CJP and CPF know how vital he is to this clas as does Propst. I just can’t see him not getting in. JMO. Guess I have DVS (delusional vol syndrome) instead of BVS.

If he doesn't make it then it's his fault for this very reason. we will do every possible thing we can without getting in trouble to get him in. If he can't then he put himself in such a bad spot nobody could save him

I spoke to Rush Propst earlier and JJ is still getting work done and won’t be here for the July term.

“JJ will be there before fall practice starts,” Propst told Volquest. “The earliest is July 26 up to the start of camp.”

I had some multi quotes to enter into but the BVS is so bad that I don't have the stomach for it. I will just say that I hope he does make it in and if he does not I still will not freak out because I cannot allow myself to freak out over what might have been. I would rather freak out over what I know has already happened.
