'20 GA OL Tate Ratledge (UGA commit)

Oh yes, the UT passed on Tate Ratledge despite UT recruiting him hard before he picked UGA and despite UT trying to pry its way into the recruitment once Sam Pittman left takeover of the player’s thread and now many of our posters project that Ratledge is going to suck. This is a tale as old as time...albeit somewhat delayed in this thread because we usually claim we passed (like UF fans claim the Gators passed on Morven Joseph after Mullen went in home with him leading up to ESD) right after the commitment or re-commitment to another program.

Go drink another. Nobody said that at all he was a priority but it doesn’t change the fact he gets his ass handed to him against top talent.

Growing up playing sports I was told that the biggest Mind F for someone is when you destroy them and then help them back up after you destroy them. Apparently that gets into guys heads.

(I would do that when I played, and it’s what I tell kids to do now) Yes, it is sportsmanship but it is more of a reminder to them that they can’t mess with you.

We didn’t pass but he’s also not on the level of Morris or wright when they were coming in last year nor even cade.

That’s why Cade, Morris, and Wright were 5*’s and Tate is not. That said, every lineman gets beat sometimes. Just because they get beat once doesn’t make them trash. There’s a reason that guy is the #1 recruit of the class. If Tate regularly beat then he’d be the #1 recruit or at least a 5*.

Will be interesting to compare his start and then career to our lower rated guys in this class. Get to grade our staffs evaluation skills with OL. Can’t get too carried away with the first year as I am sure they are more interested in long term. Too many want to declare waste or bust status way to early

Tate is a 4 star at a position that is at times difficult to rate. Never said he was trash if you actually read my post. He is not a guarantee all SEC player either. I think he is a decent prospect but not someone to gnash our teeth about not getting. If you guys would've stole Wright last year, then I would've been upset. Tate choosing Georgia over UT was more weird to me with him being such a UT fan all his life. I actually have more venom toward his day for the publicity stunt. I would've done that at my home in my garage with no one watching unless it was my son. Just hard to understand UNLESS it was academically motivated how you go to Georgia over UT for Tate with this staff and head coach. I could totally understand if Butch was still here. I think Will Friend was someone that Pittman negatively recruited against hard with Tate and in the end he trusted that even after Pittman left. HInd sight will be 20 /20 for us as fans and also for Tate and his family.
