'17 GA OLB Breon Dixon

SIAP but here is a link and a very interesting statement in the tweet: he says UGA will still be high on his list IF they keep recruiting him? Does that possibly imply that Smart cut ties with him? I thought Tennessee was the only school that did that type of thing.

Four-star linebacker Breon Dixon decommits from Georgia

He never was a fit for Kirby. Kirby needed an "in" to Gibbs and didn't want Dixon going to TN or some other rival. Kirby is like Saban sometimes they take kids to keep from rivals and don't do crap with them and let them transfer 1 or 2 years later. Like the year bama signed 4 RBs in Jones, Henry, Kamara, Tenpenny. They didn't need all 4 of those guys but he could get them and keep them away from UGA, TN and Arky.

Bear Bryant perfected that....

When I read about his decommitment, in my mind I imagined glichtenwalter posting a Lt Joe Kenda gif saying "my, my, my"

Surprised to hear about the Dixon decommitment. Based on his decommitment message it sounds like he's questioning whether or not UGA still wants him. Which probably means the communication between he and UGA has tailed off some. Dixon is probably reading the tea leaves with ILBs Warner, McBride, and a couple of the other ILBs UGA is high on. Warner has publicly said that Kirby told him he is higher on UGA's board than some other ILBs.

Don't know who Dixon is favoring now, but something tells me he'll be visiting South Carolina at some point. I'm sure Tennessee and Auburn also.

I'd say it's more like 5-10 fall off the current list.

10 is too many in my opinion. That could cause a big media backlash by letting that many current commits leave & go elsewhere. I think up to 5 is more likely with no more than 7 myself. I've already been dead set on it being 3-5 commits myself. Thanks!

Mods, let's get UGA Commit off this guy's thread title, thanks!

Sorry, Tony is rubbing off on me.

Don't expect UT to be recruiting Dixon. They had backed off before his Ga commitment. Ga did indeed drop him for probably the same reason we did. In person he is about 5'10 and does not have exceptional speed for a LB.

From what I've heard so far today, Tennessee might not be inclined to make a push for Dixon. I certainly wouldn't say that's the final word on what will happen, so we'll see whether the Vols reassess that in the coming days, weeks or months. But I don't know that Tennessee is thinking it wants to strongly pursue him right now.-Callahan

Dixon is fighting to keep his starting spot at Grayson. That said, Grayson is loaded so don't take that as he's losing his spot to an average Joe. Grayson will be on TV this upcoming weekend.

Speaking of, words from Dixon."Of course I'll be talking to Deangelo and then Nigel and Chad too," Dixon said. "I'm going to try to bring on William Poole III, Will Ignont from Alabama, and then as many lineman as we can get in front of us. I want to get as many people as we can get to commit.-Rivals

This was secking's post on the day Dixon committed (Christmas). It's just funny how things can change. Dixon had been recruiting so hard for Georgia.

There are several posts on pages 6-8 in this thread (including from Hialeah Gator and Orange Venom) which allude to Dixon being an odd fit for Smart's system. This probably shouldn't come as a surprise. It seems like Dixon may have just been used to help them gain some momentum with other, more coveted players (including Nigel Warrior :p ).

Not a fan of 'dropping' players, I never have been. If coaches can't 'commit' to the player, don't take their commitment. Only time I agree is if the player doesn't do what is expected of them (behavior or grades). Sad to see players give a commitment and shut down their recruitment only to be recruited over. At least be honest with the kid where he has backup plans and goes on visits.

It really grinds my gears if a coach does it in Jan/Feb and especially NSD. For a coach, it's just another 'employee', for the kid, where he goes to school will affect the rest of his life. /climbing down from my soapbox/
