In terms of raw tools, theres a lot to be excited about with Harrison, Simmons said of Harrison. "Hes an explosive, powerful, country-strong dude who played out of position as a junior but still was an impact player. "I love the idea of bringing in a hard-working kid that can lift or jump over anything you put in front of him and teaching him the technique. Hes raw but hes exciting.
Harrison posted a 39-inch vertical at Tennessees camp last month, and he claims to have been timed at 4.6 seconds in the 40-yard dash. He also has posted videos on his Twitter account that show him bench-pressing 410 pounds and power-cleaning 355 pounds.
In May, Harrison finished fourth in Georgias Class 5A in the discus throw. He just strikes me as a kid that has innate, natural strength and athleticism, Simmons said. Film from Harrisons junior season might not show everything hes capable of doing as an edge rusher at Tennessee since he primarily plays defensive tackle. But he still recorded 50 tackles, 11 tackles for loss, 8.5 sacks and 13 quarterback hurries last year.
He admitted defensive tackle isn't his best position, and its likely not where he will play in college. But its simply where his team needs him to play. The fact that he plays out of position makes him that much more intriguing to me, Simmons said. (He is) tough and strong enough to be an inside guy, but clearly brimming with edge athleticism.
