Smokey goes back to an half time show. I forget what game it was. 10 blue ticks were showcased at the 50 and Smokey was the only one to bark when his name was called.

The color comes from the daisy that grew on the hill outside the stadium. A bright and beautiful color when the sunlight shined.

My wife does marketing for companies in Gatlinburg and someone tried to tell her it was "Smoky" and not "Smokey".

I was so ready to throw down with that 120 lb intern.

Tennessee has different economics from much of the rest of the South-- more small businesses, more professionals, more independent truckers/craftsmen/farmers... This means that unlike some of our rivals, we have a more egalitarian fanbase. If you look at the stands in Neyland, almost everyone is wearing the same thing: sweatshirts, t-shirts, or jerseys. Compare that to Georgia or Alabama, where there's a divide between the bowtie/blazer/logo polo shirt crowd and t-shirt/jean-short hoi polloi.

Vols are the best of small state America-- independent, loyal, fierce, and reliable.

Without Volnation I would not be half as obsessive about the Vols as I currently am. It's incredible we have a free message board this good. Very few fanbases in any sport has an area this good to share information and talk with fans of the same team.

UGA bragging about beating us ONLY 3 times in a row during one of our worst stretches in program history and one of their best stretches is kind of embarrassing on them... not us. Why have they lost to us at all in the last 10-12 years? Florida has also been kind of down several years during the span too.

All those 5* players have gone to waste. Let us have 10-12 years with UGA and Florida down like they’ve had the advantage of having. Let’s see what a real program can do with elite players. We’ve shown it from 1990 to 2007 and many times before that.
