“My final five schools are Stanford, Georgia Tech, Tennessee, Ohio State and Florida State,” Petty told On3.

Petty is looking to make a decision before his senior season. He is coming off a strong official visit to Stanford. Now he will visit Georgia Tech officially starting Tuesday on June 4. Petty will visit Tennessee this weekend, then Ohio State on June 14 and then Florida State on June 21.

From All Seminole (Athlon):

Florida State: “Me and Coach Atkins's relationship has been special during this recruiting process. The school sends elite linemen to the league every year. My sister is attending school there and has been a big part of my football career ever since I started.”

Tennessee: “Tennessee has been my dream school since I was a kid. When I was younger I made a notebook of everything I would need to be able to go there. The coaching and offense sticks out most to me now.”

Ohio State: “The academics and the football development (specifically offensive line) is what makes Ohio State special. The school has an amazing business program and I know and really like Coach Frye and Coach Day. Ohio State will also be a school that will continue to dominate over the next years.”

Stanford: “Stanford is the holy grail when it comes to degrees. No school offering P4 football can compete with Stanford in academics. They have had a history of development and used to be great.”

Georgia Tech: “Georgia Tech is another school that has both Elite academics and a solid football program. The school has been recruiting me hard and really showing love. Coach Key and Coach Wade have built that Oline room strong and seem to really develop their guys.”

He also already has a plan on when he would like to commit however things can change he explains.

“Hopeful for a before-the-season commitment but only God knows the real plan!”

The Seminoles are the predicted favorite to land Petty according to ON3’s Steve Wiltfong.

Tennessee is set to host six official visitors this weekend with Josh Petty being the headliner. Petty comes into the weekend with Florida State out in front but as we have said, his fondness for Tennessee growing up gives Tennessee a shot to flip the momentum. We will be interested to see what he says coming out of the weekend. Petty knows David Sanders quite well and would love to play with him in college.

I like how he actually mentions academics. Although, the only football player I ever saw in class was Daniel Lincoln.

His last comment I think answers why he’s taking the Georgia tech and Stanford visits. Would be nice for the education but not real threats
