'20 GA QB Harrison Bailey (UT SIGNEE)

Proof that every fan base thinks “their” guys are ranked too low. You can find similar threads on every site but no one does it quite like the Gators do it,highly recommend reading till the end, that board is 100 entertainment.
Tre’Vez Johnson ranking question
I don't think there is a conspiracy against the Vols or any other team. I think they give more credence to players committed to Bama, and Clemson and other hyper successful programs. I don't have time to do it but I'd bet you donut that if you looked at ratings prior to commitment and after commitment you'd see much bigger jumps in ratings at those programs.

GT isn’t like Stanford or ND. It’s more like MIT. There’s nowhere for athletes to hide academically. Even the business school guys have to take calculus. Even though GT has pulled some good players over the years, they’ve never recruited at a high level and the academics is why.
Some truth in what you say, but not fully. There absolutely is places for them ‘to hide’, they created the business administration especially for football players. They also have different ‘set’ of curriculum classes for STEM classes vs non STEM degrees. Even with the calculus classes, there is a STEM course then there is the easier version. I took Calculus in HS, it’s not the rocket science portion at GT. 58 players last year was in Business Administration, 2nd most was in media/communications at 11.

I think they’ve admitted to that. Basically they said if you are offered by the SEC (or Bama), they need to take a second look at your film bc SEC is great at talent evaluations.

How’d Kenny Anderson swing it?

The big question is why is the credence given more just because a guy commits to a certain school?

Staff should probably cut ties with Bailey that way all the focus can go on King. It doesn’t matter that King will need more S&C and coaching then Bailey.

I have only talked to Barton on two occasions. He is a nice guy and takes his part of the rankings very seriously. At the end of the day rankings create narratives, stories, headlines, etc., I feel they do a good job but they don’t add some stuff they should be added and they have some stuff that should be removed. The fact that they base their rankings on pro potential that a high schooler has is perplexing to me in many ways. I have saw pretty much every quarterback there in action at some point. If you rank based off of college impact and readiness Bailey is a top 5 QB in the class imo. Beck is also pretty high up there. I am not sure why you rank kids going into college on their pro potential.

If you mean, give them a significant bump when you say "second look," then I agree.

Makes them sound smarter

If he bases it on pro potential, why is he love with DT QBs? They have some NFL value, but only a fraction of the value it has in college. You'd think he'd prefer pocket guys if he is projecting to the nfl. jmo

I said it the other day, it's not a conspiracy or hatin on certain teams, it's business. A 247 evaluator works for the same company as a 247 journalist.
Your company wants to stay in good graces with the playoff teams.
They scratch your back (allow access) you scratch theirs (hype recruits, create momentum).

No different than any other "icky" part in any business. Anyone who believes it doesn't exist is honestly buying into the rainbows and unicorns version of how the world works.

And for good reason. They are proven elite evaluators. It'd be like being a C student taking an exam and the valedictorian hands you his finished test.

It's not that complicated. It is just working smarter.

Btw the Pruitt Bump is gaining traction imo. He was highly regarded at Bama and will gain his badge now as a HC.

I don’t think there’s some major conspiracy here. Maybe mobility is a legitimate question.

Could be. But he's ours regardless. We'll either be laughing in 3 years while he's picking offenses apart while stationary or crying while he gets sacked and ran down because we were warned over and over. Ride or die.

Had this argument before and glad you said it. The rating system is set up based on PRO potential and not an indication of impact on your college program, some don’t understand that. And a lot of the time the lower ranked players are much better than their stars indicate simply because they were under evaluated (played for a team not well known)

Deshaun Watson has great mobility yet he got sacked the most out of any QB in the league last year.

Idk if it’s a conspiracy but a QBs ability to deliver the ball should be one of if not the highest priority. Bailey is probably better than anyone at that. It will of course show in the 7 vs 7 and will still result in him being dropped.

But it's not based on anything but but hanging.

That's why I don't put any stock.in their rankings. It's 100% political.
