Georgia Tech screwed itself with that triple option far more than academics have. No decent players wanted to play in that offense or practice against it when it was entirely useless at preparing them for the NFL.For a lot of people Tech is probably a more difficult school. The Math requirements would be extremely difficult for most.
Ranking the top Elite 11 QBs after Day 1 in Frisco
King ranked as the 3rd best QB. Bailey not ranked among top 11, listed among ‘those that participated’.
Bailey still has time to show out at the Opening.
I just keep thinking of all the great quarterbacks that would not have finished at the top of these. Sure some would have, but this isn't a game situation. It doesn't measure everything.Barton and co. has to get their digs in now to justify Bailey not rising after he dominates 7on7. They already set the excuse with Charles Powers pretty much saying yesterday "we expect him to look great in 7on7 due to having so much more experience at it than the other QB's".
He has to be in the top 12 at this event to move on to “The Opening”. If this is anything like last yr and prior the “Elite 11” competition is to decide who actually emerges as THE elite 11 (12) qbs which earns them the right to participate in “The Opening”. Once it’s decided then the committee pairs the highest ranked with the lowest ranked qbs (#1 with #12, #2 with #11 and so on)and form 6 teams along with the highest rated athletes in the country (WRs, TEs, RBs,/ LBs, Cs, Ss). Take it for what it’s worth but I have no doubts that Bailey will make it to the opening.Ranking the top Elite 11 QBs after Day 1 in Frisco

This academics thing is always an excuse the Notre Dame and Georgia Tech's of the world use when they suck, but it's not the cause. Georgia Tech had Calvin Johnson before the triple option, their last national championship is only 8 years older than ours. They are sitting right smack dab in the middle of some of the most fertile recruiting ground in the country, if they get a good coach, watch out.
Starting to sound like a cheerleader for us. We understand Bailey’s potential. Naturally UGAs beloved Carson Beck made it in. In saying that, I’m not being sarcastic cause I like you Secking. After saying that, don’t stop being the guy you are on here, you are a blessing to this board, however I hope we curb stomp UGA into their proper place.Ranking the top Elite 11 QBs after Day 1 in Frisco

GT has a great engineering school, but very few athletes go there with engineering as their major. GT steers it’s athletes into business administration degrees for the most part. I think GT is ranked around 35 by USNews, UGA 46th.I agree fully. Georgia Tech is a sleeping giant.
Look at Stanford over the past decade. Much easier to win at GA Tech than Stanford. GA Tech is right in the middle of one of the nation's best recruiting markets. Stanford is in NorCal and has to import its talent from all over the country. And yet, Stanford has been elite.
The academics are tough, but that attracts certain types of recruits. GA Tech is one of the best engineering schools in the world. In terms of salaries after graduation, it's a top 5 school in the US.
Paul Johnson is a great coach, but the triple-option was a bad fit for a school of GA Tech's caliber. It makes sense at places like Army and Navy; or FCS programs. It doesn't make sense when you're right in a hotbed of NFL-level football talent.

Proof that every fan base thinks “their” guys are ranked too low. You can find similar threads on every site but no one does it quite like the Gators do it,highly recommend reading till the end, that board is 100 entertainment. If anyone believes that Bailey wouldn't be ranked higher if he were committed to Clemson, Alabama etc.. are fooling themselves. There is no doubt that they give preferential rankings to players committed to them. The services are so far up Saban's and Sweeny's butts, they can't see the light if day. It's pathetic and why I give zero credence to their rankings.
