There are always some late bloomers that ball out their senior year and weren't on anybody's radar. The kid that has played at UCF is one such kid. The problem is at 1-7 or 2-6 probably best case, we aren't going to be in much of a position to nab said late bloomers during the stretch run.One of the real problems with firing a coach when you have a major QB for the incoming class is that unless you have a universally respected QB guru as the incoming coach, you are likely to lose that QB at a time when all the other decent QB's in the cycle are already firmly committed elsewhere. Heck, even the 2021's are getting snapped up already. Going into next year with Maurer and Shrout (if they don't decide to bolt) and whatever leftover misfit toy we could pick off the scrap heap would be putting the next coach in a huge hole right off the bat.
It's like that scene in Titanic where the Irishman is explaining that the ship can stay afloat if there is water in 4 compartments but not 5, and at that point each compartment will fill up and the water will flow over the water tight bulkheads into the next compartment and sinking is now a mathematical certainty. Well, I think Pruitt's tenure is there. I've just lost my faith in this regime. Maybe, I'm wrong. I'd be glad to be wrong, we'll see. I really like chatting with you guys here in the RF, so I'll refrain from further doom and gloom. I do hope we hold onto HB.we spent all our money on the hull.
sorry.
