'20 GA RB/CB Ebony Jackson

I’m not a recruiting savant and never claimed to be. That’s why I like that there’s people on here who I respect that discuss the kid.

Why you’re up in arms over people commenting on a current cycle kid who just committed to us is comical to me.

People judging him on his ability and speed like he is stepping on campus this summer pal. Thats my point.

I might be wrong (and with Newt, you never know) but my take was that he was stating that it was way too early to judge this commit as a victorious or meh pickup. Not stifling the discussion on the thread bearing his name. Course I “only understand only one out ten things he posts.” 😉

Where does he look slow again? He looks elite to me.

Yeah there were several runs/catches where you saw the next gear.

I also saw some good vision and decisiveness. There was one run where you could tell with his feet that he was looking at multiple running lanes before choosing one that picked up 10 more yards. He isn't afraid to go north-south and run through traffic either.

I see what everyone is saying with the "no wiggle" but there were a couple plays that I was impressed enough with. At his size, he can be a good bruiser that can soften up the opposing defense and make hay for the 'wiggle' RB beside him. He also seems like one of those backs that always gets tackled forward (I say 'seems' because this is all HS tape, not against SEC bodies).

Idk, I like him and hope he winds up a Vol come next February.

Not impressed with Hudl .. Ive seen better backs in Knoxville ..at a number of high schools ... no wiggle or moves ... a 3 star ?? Maybe a 2 star ...... I dont see what they see in him at all ...... really ?? Come on CJP . the kid at Maryville and some ive seen at Central, Fulton, OR , Alcoa etc .. look better than this kid .. sorry .. not impressed at all
Never mind

He doesn't. People are angry because he's a 3 star. His tape looks really good to me. I mentioned Latavius Murray earlier, but I watched again and he seems to have good patience, a 'la David Johnson.

Edit. I'm going to get it for throwing out the name David Johnson, but oh well... not saying this kid is a superstar.

I see power and speed. I'll take a guy who tries to "wiggle" less and just hits the hole hard (twss) and drags defenders for a tough 6-7 yards on 1st and 2nd down. I see them getting this kid to 215 or so and having him in the "power back" role.

I remember when Latrell Wiliams committed. Everyone raved over his speed.

He played in 1 game.

It doesn't guarantee playing time
It does help. Let's jet it play out. Were likely won't know for two years anyway.

I read that he announced his decision while the team was out at practice......meaning CJP learned about it post facto. So, it's possible that Jackson pulled the trigger on Twitter without the nod from the key staff. It would be interesting to know that little factoid. Jackson may be an okay player, but his commitment now could hurt us with other, more highly regarded, prospects.
Nieds tweeted about it so I think they're ok with it.

I know this doesn’t seem like a big deal but this kid could be the steal of the class already. He has legit speed... there is a reason why we jumped on him so early... now it will be holding off others... because they WILL come.
Some on here will only think he's good if somebody steals him from us.

It's comical that people are complaining about his highlight vid. First off, it's a short video.

Second, do u really want to see a bunch of unrealistic plays? Those only happen against weak competition, not against other good players who are stacking the box.

The question to ask yourself is this: Would you be happy if he consistently made the plays in his video while on the field at UT? I know I would.

The reality is that a scholarship offer this early and even accepting a commit doesn't mean this guy ends up at UT. We found someone who the metrics indicate may be a diamond so we trusted that. If he has a terrible senior year, I'm sure he won't end up at UT. This is how the game is played, unfortunately.
