'22 GA RB Justin Williams (Cal)

Nope. Many across the CFB world are acknowledging the “strong “ season Heupel had based on the sh*t show he took over in January.

Here's the truth. Most experts had Tennessee at 5-7, maybe 6-6 at the best. The team was 7-5 with 1 close win vs KY and 2 close losses with Pitt and Ole Miss. One was a conference champ, the other runner-up in the toughest football division outside the NFL. In two games against top 3 ranked teams, Tennessee showed more competitiveness than they had in last 5-6 years and actually led in both games early. In all games Tennessee was competitive with every team they played until depth was exposed in 2nd half.

Yes, it was a better season that most experts expected.

ask high school kids how 7-5 looks strong. Ill wait.
Unless they rode the short bus, they can do basic math and realize 7 wins minus 3 wins = 4 win improvement in 1 season
And unless they been living in a cave they know the story of all the transfer loss.
Unless they never watch sports center they’ve heard the buzz on Heupels offense,

This is unbelievable. If we miss on Williams then we have whiffed on every single target. Every one. This is an early warning sign that what we were told about Heup and recruiting might be true. Disaster finish
Absolutely dumbest post I’ve seen in a while!🏆 here’s your participation trophy

This is what gives me hope. We lead early against top ranked teams then ran out of gas. That is solved with depth.

You greatly overestimate how much high school kids follow the subtleties of college football. They see the playoffs, the top ten...that's about it.

Even if you're comparing Heupel to our last two coaches first full recruiting class, we're still looking plenty fine. Average rating right now is .8807 compared to Butch's .8950 and Pruitt's .8757. Butch's class was 7th in the nation, but that's literally only because we took 32 players, and the only reason his rating was that high was because he had two built in highly rated legacies (Bates and Kelly) and a few highly rated in state kids that all wanted to play together (Hurd, Malone, Barnett).

Williams should raise our rating up a little as he's a composite 4 star. Is this class ideal? Maybe not, but it is not near as bad as some would make it seem. We still will get some kids on the normal signing day, plus the Portal could be huge for us.

I think two bad classes in a row plus losing portal players have badly impacted our roster. I think Ky, SC, and Mizzou are catching up with us in talent and we are getting further behind the top teams in the SEC. They can begin to change that in ‘23, but it’s naive to not see what’s happening here as a warning sign
Dead Period is a rough time on everyone. It’s not all sunshine but it’s not all doom and gloom either. We were ranked 23 last year in recruiting with only 17 commits. Today we are at #19 with 17 commits at Early period. We went from 3-7 to possible 8-5. We have another month plus to add HS players and possibly longer than that with portal guys. HH is back. When is the last time we had a legit QB coming back? O line appears set. Only weakness is defense. Verse is the only recruit I’ll lose sleep over as none of the HS will likely be immediate impact players. Not telling you anything you don’t already know, just throwing a life line…😉

Do you really think we’re tracking to have less talent than Mizzou and S Car based on one class? You live and breathe recruiting so I know you realize our class isn’t that much different than those others when you get down to it.

And I get it, feeling like we had a chance to really finish strong and then not is frustrating. I respect you a ton, and you’re a great poster, but I think you’re being super over dramatic.
He said back in May if we have a top 15 class it would be a major coup in Heupel’s first year and now since we are just out of the top 15 for the moment it’s somehow a big failure. Major drama sounding if you ask me. GBO!
