‘23 GA SDE Victor Burley (Clemson commit)

Sorry it has everything to do with being a Tennessee fan. I have no shame in admitting that everything is filtered through how something affects the Vols. And as of now, Dabo hired from within unproven coordinators which I believe will continue their downward trajectory. You can believe that because they won before he will be just like Saban and go back to where he was and start dominating again. Guess we can both have orange colored glasses until tomorrow actually happens.
Losing Vanables will sting big time.

That's just it, I'm not definitively predicting continued success with any level of certainty. I'm open to either outcome being possible. You and others just seem hellbent on the notion that they're doomed because they hired unproven coordinators despite the fact that they have done so in other instances and experienced continued success. You're entitled to that opinion, certainly. But I'm entitled to believe it is also presumptuous and deep-rooted in wishful thinking as much as it is in reality.

If Clemson wasn't in the ACC I could definitely see a fall off.I mean unless the teams surrounding them get better(which is anyone's guess)I think they'll be decent enuff to be a mediocre pain in our asses.Im hopeful and it's possible they collapse for reasons stated but until then it just is what it is...

Right, we’re having fun, and you’re trying to ruin it.

Because I'm engaging you in thoughtful conversation, I'm ruining your VN experience? That's a curious angle to take for a message board dedicated to that very idea. My apologies for ruining your Thursday. Take care.
I do not want thoughtful conversation about programs I hate. I want to talk about the Tennessee Volunteers on the message board for the Tennessee Volunteers. Nothing curious about that. Still not sure why you’re shocked that TN fans on a TN message board are excited that Clemson is on a downward trajectory. If they adjust we will just find another program we hate that is declining instead of rising.

Still not sure why you think that's the issue. I couldn't care less if you're excited about Clemson potentially heading in a downward trajectory. If it happens, great...I'll celebrate it right alongside you.

And I attempted to respectfully discuss those things, state why I disagreed thus challenging you to defend your position, and was promptly scolded by you for "ruining your fun". What's your end game, here? I tried to have a civil conversation about it, you essentially told me to hush it up, but now you want to keep discussing it. What gives? We can simply agree to disagree if that will give you peace about it.

No, I do not want to keep discussing it. You’re taking this way too seriously. I had a civil conversation with you trying to explain how simple it is why Vol fans on a message board keep talking about Clemson’s decline. Because we want to! We want it that way! They have been on a downward trajectory from their dominance of other teams. That does not mean people think they will be 6-6 the next three years no more than our upward trajectory means people think we go 12-0 for three years. The fact that they lost both coordinators that were viewed by others as their strength is now viewed as a weakness until proven otherwise. My end game was simply to answer your question as to why we keep talking about Clemson the way we do. And I did not scold you nor did I promptly say you were ruining our fun. I said that after a whole day of trying to explain the way fans think about other teams. Fans of a team do not talk about how great their enemies are or how well they are going to do. They talk about the bad things happening to them. You are apparently trying to discuss as a sports fan with a bunch of Tennessee fans the greatness of Clemson and confused where we were coming from. I was just trying to explain where we were coming from. I am sorry if I confused you more.

No worries, and your above post provides more clarity. And again, I'm not putting Clemson on a pedestal. I'm certainly not a Clemson fan, though I can respect their success. I guess I'm just approaching their future (failure or success) more cautiously. I understand the idea of our fans rooting for them to fall apart. If it leads to success for us, I'm right there with you. Their coaching replacement method, while different than Bama's, is at least proven to be successful over multiple hires. Every hire at any school, whether promotion from within or brought in from the outside, could pan out or could catastrophically fail. Clemson just seems to have a formula that works for them. Maybe they continuously caught lightning in a bottle before, and they fall apart following these two hires. We will see.

According to the VQ podcast, while on his visit to Michigan State, Clemson gave Burley 24 hours to silent commit or they were moving on.
So the Clem$on 💰 goes away if they don’t commit?
Other suitors have 💰 as well and who’s to say he can’t decommit anyhow?

I mean it does work. I think it is pretty low class, but kids seem to buy in. They are not going to change it unless they start losing some of these battles.
