I read almost everything on here today, and saw several nasty comments, including this recruit called "garbage", so I can understand this guy's reaction. But I didn't notice that from Bass, either. I can see where people may not like Bass's mood swings, but I don't recall noticing him being insulting or calling names.

Yeah, I saw those. Think I put a lot of those posters on ignore. For the ones that don't like it when Bass gets upset, they can put him on ignore. Just seemed like another guy upset that Bass or anyone gets excited when it seems like we are going to get a recruit.

You realize every recruiting site doesn’t watch every recruit in the country, right? They have hundreds-thousands of kids they try to watch and the number grows after the season ends. They barely watch any film on the low ranked guys

But yes, trust them over a staff that is paid to find out every possible thing you can imagine about a recruit, have guys that all they do is watch film and their list gets smaller and smaller so they can focus on which guys are actually better.

Not to split hairs but 11.68? Willie Gault ran a 10.10. World record 9.58. A difference of 1 second in 100m is an eternity.
Happy we got a quality player but that time doesn't add up.

I saw this as well, and it definitely raised my eyebrow. It was electronically timed at a meet. 11.68 is a good time for a HS girl. I saw another post that said 11.23. Anything 11+ isn’t fast. Even if the 4.43 was hand timed, that’s in the 4.5 range, and that’s impressive. Someone said he had a great vertical. All I saw was 32”, which isn’t great. So, my point is that 11.68 and 4.4 don’t add up....somebody’s wrong.

With all that said, if the coaches liked him at camp, that’s all that matters to me.

lol nope still wrong. Ive been pretty realistic today. as ive said... we slow played some guys and it didnt pay off. get crouch and wright and gray this class will be fine. lot of you guys are kinda ridiculous and i still live rent free in a lot of yalls head

WRs are tough to evaluate imo. Do they play in an offense where they throw a lot? if you only get few targets a game makes it harder to impress. 6-2, 213lbs and a 4.43 sounds promising to me.

I get why you are negative a lot of times. But I honestly can see how much you love the Vols even when you are full blown negavol. These jerks today are completely ridiculous. I don't understand the complete kid bashing. I am picturing a kid who can't sleep the night before the biggest day of his life. Gets the call he is is actually going to be able to sign a D1 scholarship and gets to sign his name to be a Tennessee Volunteer. I see a kid's parents crying because all their years of sacrifice paid off and their kid is going to have their school paid for. I really didnt realize how positive I was. I do get negative when we suck in a game. And I got negative when Eboigbe, Ellis and Anderson went for the other guys. My daughter told me to shut up and quit following it if I couldn't handle losing some recruits I really do love a good underdog. I feel that is what our team is now.

They want to appear to be know it alls and want you to know they are know it alls
They want to be recruiters
They want to be Quarterbacks
The want to be receivers
They want to be O linemen
They want to be D lineman
They want to be first in line
They want to be first to tell you your mistakes
They want to be first to tell you your weaknesses
On and On and ON
For the most part the people on these boards are want to be's and some are has been's from another era.

Danny is either one of two things: (1) lying (because there is no way the “player personnel” staff don’t have a handle on recruiting rankings, even if they don’t factor them they would still be looking just out of curiosity) or (2) he’s not doing his job, because part of it should be to evaluate the other 200 players at WR that someone else (rivals) has given you a lead on.

While I’m happy with the signing and am on board with anyone this staff thinks can help us, I’m not buying Danny’s “oh we had no idea he was ranked so low, they are all suckers” routine. He’s doing a little damage control on what could be perceived as an average or below average day (I don’t perceive it that way, but some do, and I’m sure he’s heard those rumblings).

If this kid can play, and at least plays good tough solid football, then I will not say anything about him, but if he doesn't play well...then I don't care how much he wants to be a Vol, I will say so. I want to win...we all want to win, and we have to have good players to do it.

I will not bash this commit today, I welcome him, and I hope and believe he is what the coaches believe he is.. a good player that can help us win and not get our teeth kicked in anymore.

All that said, I understand the initial disappointment, and skepticism from guys...that skepticism has been well earned by the Volunteer football program and UT admin for the last 15+ years, so ease up on the total bashing of guys like Bass. There are far worse idiots on the board that say really crappy things about unheralded recruits like Means...If you want to call those idiots out

Pretty much nailed it.... maybe left out that a high percentage of these folks are reacting due to their knowledge base and the vast majority of the time that is severely limited. Why they feel compelled to emulate the Jim Romes and Stephen A. Smiths of the world I do not understand. They value snarky over substance and don't value research before release of toxic opinions. Please use the time stamp on posts and if their venom was published before they even heard Coach go over the class then take it for what it is...... The one thing trend analysis tells me is that if this staff offered a kid, his character level is way above those that want to take cheap shots at a kid before the ink is dry.

Pruitt pointed out that he loved his size and athleticism which allowed him the flexibility to play multiple positions if needed and contribute to ST immediately.

3 star WRs are a dime a dozen.
