'24 GA WR Mike Matthews (Tennessee)

Why is Dylan Raiola treated as like the 2nd coming of Peyton, Tom Brady, or Mahomes, but like Nico and 3 other quarterbacks were better than him in the 2023 class? Just weird to me.
He's UGA's guy. And right now, UGA's guy will get the tip of the hat. That's in spite of Kirby's relative failure when it comes to recruiting the QB position. He's had 4/5* guys every year and his best performer so far was a walk on that he didn't really want.

Yeah ... I hate to bring it up, but the chatter with Matthews is similar to what we were hearing about Fountain.
That’s not the same situation. We’ve been trending with Matthews for several months, friends already committed. We felt decent about Fountain but never any “game over” type speak

Raiola looks good, but he’s not like some Trevor Lawrence or Vince Young where you could tell they were an NFL starter in like their 1st college game. More in line with an Arch Manning type.
Really weird use of Vince young… who sucked until he didn’t the last game of his sophomore year… then struggled in the NFL.

Recruiting is always a heartbreak if you take it too serious on a daily basis. You really have to wait and take the whole class in perspective or you can drive yourself crazy.

Just meant he was like a physical freak that was looked like a million bucks and was going to be drafted high, just based on physical talent.

The update from Chad Simmons of On3.com that Ron Swanson quoted in post #727 in this thread.
Yeah that’s not what they said about fountain at all. He committed while he visited there. And while it was a surprise, crystal balls came in while he was at the school. You’re just comparing two players that are interested in the same school. Their recruitments have nothing to do with one another and have few similarities

You aren't nervous about SC? I don't want to be ... this would be a seismic shift commitment.

Yeah I’m a little nervous. But you saying we are hearing similar things between matthews and Fountain is just wrong. Matthews will probably be a vol and the fact that our guys at volquest say nothing has changed calms me a little bit. I’m not saying you are incorrect to be worried I’m just saying that the comparison between the two recruitments is completely incorrect

Arch Manning was the same way. So was Trevor Lawrence and Quinn Ewers. All of the were called once in a generation QBs.

I think Raiola went to a lot of those camps early and got exposure and performed well at a young age and the recruiting service never bother to change. On3’s own rankings did decrease him tho. Kid has been to 4 high schools and won’t surprise me if transfers or busts. Kirby has an absolutely putrid record with elite QBs
