'25 GA WR Travis Smith (Tennessee)

very excited to see him play here I think he's going to be a beast. Maybe a bit to be desired with his speed but I know on3 comped him to Cedric Tillman and Tillman was a beast even though he was not the fastest.
He’s physical. Athletic. Long.
Incredible hands and is faster than than some think

Matthews played 10 games. Probably would have played more and more snaps as well if not for the injury setting him back. Smith likely is too good to keep off the field.
I think it was just negligence in not getting him significantly more playing time. Everyone knew Webb or Nimrod was probably out after the season.

He plays outside. Whose snaps is he getting? Bru’s? Thornton’s? Brazzell’s?

No.

As a freshman coming off an injury he was t better than those guys. He wasn’t more likely to help us win.

Why would he play?

That is how you lose a team.

Very sparingly, and usually out of necessity

Squirrel and Sampson played their true freshman years (all season). Both had good single games.

James Pearce played in all 13 games his freshman year. Josh Josephs played in 12 games his freshman year- had his first sack at LSU in the first quarter. Tyre West played in 11 games his freshman year. Davin Hobbs played in 11 games last year. Arion Carter played until he got hurt. Peyton Lewis and Desean Bishop played this year. Boo played a bunch this year.

I guess he doesn’t play freshmen.

He’s been here what 4 years?
White , Sampson .
Lewis and Bishop had to play, Sampson was the only one ahead that wasnt hurt.

So in 4 years 2 on the offensive side have played meaningful snaps.
And I’m talking offense.
I know some on defense.
Not really shooting down what I said here.
You pretty much supported what I said

I think Brazzell, Staley, and transfer wr (or MM) will be the go-to receivers

New recruits may get some reps only on a "need to" pass or injury situation. Freshmen just
don't get the exposure here.

Yup. I’d be way happier if we played more freshmen and didn’t win 10 games twice…

For crying out loud.

What he’s doing is WORKING. Few freshman come in ready to start in the SEC, but y’all will always use this to tear down Heup. Exasperating.

Haha…I didn’t go back to 2021 because I didn’t care that much. I guess you want him to play 22 freshmen and see if he can win 5 games? You play guys with experience who help you win games. There is a reason why you don’t play freshman OL.

Again, I know it doesn’t drive the narrative. I gave you examples.

Nope. But no coach is or has ever been perfect.
But you seem to think he is .
Was what he’s doing working when we lost to Arkansas?
I’m sure you think it was.

Nick Saban said if he had a senior and freshman pretty close in a battle for a position at the start of the year,
He’s playing the freshman with superior talent because the experience he gains during the season and his talent advantage will make the freshman the better player at the end of the season.
