Yea, I saw. I didn’t see the 5 star+ suggestion. I can’t keep up with individual or composite ratings anymore. I had just checked on3 recently, and they had him as a 5 star at 26th, but I guess that was “industry” ranking. All I know is he was a consensus overall top 40 recruit.I provided a graphic showing that he is not a 5 star plus, which was the claim. There are two services that did not rate him a 5*. On3 was one of those, although he was a 5* by their composite, but not individual rating.
He is built like Ja'marr Chase. He is physical. Next year we should see more screens going to him. A WR that can run like a RB in space in valuable. The only WR that could get YAC last year was Thornton and that's when the defense was behind him.Matthews was a 5 star+? Genuinely asking. Doesn't seem like a body type that would be to me personally
Chase was also 20 yards bigger tho. Matthews is in fact very physical tho. Great blockerHe is built like Ja'marr Chase. He is physical. Next year we should see more screens going to him. Since its silly season. And we are a bunch of recruiting dorks.
How allsum would it be to have Matthews at X, and Bama kid/Staley at Z. Then, line this cat up as a split end, at Y, and have Schnitzelman or Davis offset as either a decoy, blocker, or Hback.
Put your best catching burner in at RB.
Pretty sure I ran a variation of this in CFB 2004, when I was beating teams 157-2.
Huepel did adjust, which is why he did what he did. Watching other offenses this year, still use tempo. Used PA with middle of field, HB routes, and short throws to edge (not laterals or screens), opened up PA or slant or wheel route.Would be fun but we need to commit to tempo and slinging the ball all over the field. I know Heupel made the best of what he had this year but defenses are adjusting and I hope we can return to 2022 form.
where we passed it less than 4 more times a game? would that really make you feel better? while we had the best rusher in the SEC? you want to take away at least 3 carries a game from Sampson this year?Would be fun but we need to commit to tempo and slinging the ball all over the field. the decline this is year is more due to lack of success rather than a change in play calling.
it would be like arguing that we should have thrown the ball less to Hyatt and focused on the run game more in 2022.
when you have the best player in the nation/sec you are going to feature them more. trying to force the ball away from the best player on your team is a bad mindset.
I’m giving this post a like solely for the Pepperidge farm line.Do you remember all those quarters without points? Pepperage Farm remembers. Like I said, Heupel made the best of what he had this year, hence the style we saw this season. All I’m saying is I’d like to see our future offense more like 2022 than 2024.
