'25 GA WR Travis Smith (Tennessee)

From Rivals:

Being one of the top prospects in the state of Georgia, Kirby Smart and the Bulldogs have commanded much of the attention in this recruitment. But Smith Jr. talked through his official visits and it appears that Alabama and Tennessee were the winners as the dust settles. Smith Jr. even added that Tennessee was his favorite official visit.

There have been five FutureCasts logged for Georgia to land his commitment, but there is a true battle taking place for the 6-foot-4, 203-pound wideout.

Rivals has no clue. They don’t even have a pulse on this one. Wouldn’t surprise me if Georgia pulled some crap and ends up being the choice though.

Tennessee has continued to impress wide receiver Travis Smith down the home stretch of his recruitment, and we continue to see things trending positively for the Vols here. We believe the Tennessee grabbed momentum away from Alabama last weekend after they made a big impression during his visit to Tuscaloosa two weekends ago.
While Georgia just took their fourth wide receiver of the class on Thursday, we believe the Bulldogs’ momentum started to fade for Smith after his official visit to Athens earlier in the month. He decides on July 13th, and others are going to continue to swing, but Kelsey Pope has Tennessee positioned nicely here.

There continue to be plenty of positives around Tennessee and Travis Smith as his decision is now a little over a week away. Alabama and Georgia grabbed momentum at different times, but the Vols have been a constant for the four-star. Still, Smith is quiet ahead of his decision and is processing plenty of information with his family, so if Tennessee wins out on the 13th, his relationship with Kelsey Pope will have proven vital. We firmly believe no school has been notified any decision has been made.

During todays pod, AP was asked to make a bold prediction for this years signing class. He initially said Tennessee lands David Sanders. Hubbs pushed back saying that wasn’t bold because AP has been suggesting we’re good there for a while. So AP said Tennessee lands Travis Smith.
Gotta give AP credit on this one, he’s been saying this was gonna move this way for months!

AP also mentioned how they put Smith around Matthews right away, so he could get a perspective from another top GA receiver leaving the state for UT. I thought this was a nice approach.

Might I also say, the Heupel bump is real.
