Galaxy S5

Don't you know, just because 1 person had an issue they all suck?!?

I suppose so. I should probably bury it and seek refuge in an freebie Iphone 4.

Setting aside the dumb fanboy wars....

GS5 easily survived my wife dropping my phone into the pool on vacation. I had zero interest in testing its resistance to water, but was impressed.

Still trying to figure out how to get a visual notification of a text when the phone is locked, other than the simple light indicator?

Apple is still holding my phone number hostage in imesages and having issues getting texts from iPhone friends.

Any tips?

I use Handcent SMS and have it set for a screen wake pop up quick reply.

Like a pop up? In the messages app, go to settings then go to notifications then there's an option to receive a pop up, click the box.

Not getting texts after switching from iPhone to Android? Here's how to turn off iMessage and fix it! | iMore

Good luck.

Why you apple fanboys insist on trolling a S5 thread is beyond me. Must be you have a feeling of inadequacy.

Admittedly I'm an Apple guy but really I just like cool tech. I have no ill will toward the high end Androids. If I had a need for two phones I would probably get one as my secondary phone just to play with it.

I just found it funny that something as simple as a text message pop-up notification isnt something it does out of the box when Android fanboys are always claiming how much more stuff they do from the second you turn it on.

It gives you the option to turn that on. Im glad too because I find the text pop up annoying.

I use the Messaging app. Not the installed default Verizon Messages. With the messaging app, my screen turns on when a text arrives.

For your second part.

From what I know usually once Apple turns off your imessage associated with your phone number, you and everyone with an apple phone that has texted you needs to delete your text message history together. Start over pretty much. That's something Apple suggest.

It's truly sad how some people are virtually attached to their phones. Some are far better than others but my sister is a freaking nut. We were going to a family dinner one time and I picked her up to carpool. We were running late and she thought she left her phone. She proceeded to demand that I turn around just to go get her phone. I told her it wasn't happening. Luckily for her she found it in her purse seconds later. She's frequently PLASTERED to her iphone while sitting down watching tv shows and movies or should I say NOT watching the tv. If she was a teenager and not closer to the age of 40 like she is I might expect that type of behavior.

There are people out there who I think would literally go insane if they lost the use of their devices. They just would not know what to do with themselves. They'd be forced to enjoy life like it's supposed to be enjoyed, from your own eyes.

I went to order take out at a restaurant the other day and my phone battery died before I went in. Unable to bury my nose into my phone while I waited, I felt naked, alone, and confused.
