Galaxy S5

Not to hijack but I'm waiting another week or so for the LG G3. 90% sure that will be my next phone.

You get it? The G3 looks solid.

I was bored the other night and somehow ended up with a red Nexus 5. Its obviously been out for a while but it's still solid. Anyone with this phone have any tips or tricks, or app suggestions?

Just got it today. Once I figure out how to work it I'll give a report :)

Love the size. Screen is great but not very bright outdoors. It runs a little warm and I can feel the warmth when holding it against my head for a call.

Will need to research best apps to use for message (going with message plus as default), mail, etc. Got the Doubletwist app and need to set it up to transfer tunes from iTunes. Contacts were saved to Gmail then onto this phone.

So far so good but there's tons to learn.

The buttons on the back are fine by me - no real adjustment period

Yeah, none of the Android phones I've used are quite as bright as the iPhone. I guess its due to the different technology.

Keep us posted. I'm looking for a good messaging app also. I'm using Hangouts at the moment.

I read Samsung is planning on launching a new "high-end" phone in late August to compete with the iPhone 6. Thought that was a little odd since that that is what Galaxy S is competing just fine.

Well I'm stuck in the iMessage hell zone. I had turned it off on my iPhone yesterday and did a factory reset. However, texts were coming in a thread I had started there and my iPhone didn't pick them up (prior to reset) and a test email from my new phone to iPhone users didn't work right either.

Realized later that I had iMessage still activated on my iMac and the texts were there. Signed out of that and verified my iPad and macbook don't have it activated.

Will give it a day to clear Apple servers but I'm skeptical right now.

How's your S4 doing?

As long as you have it turned off everywhere it should propagate the system right away. I've did it on a couple of phones this week and didn't have any issues. Good luck.

I heard that. Its rumored to be named the Samsung Alpha.

So I've noticed on the Nexus 5 it doesn't turn on the screen when I receive a message. I'm guessing a different messaging app would solve that.

Also this phone doesn't appear to have visual voicemail. I'm using my Google Voice voicemail for now.

It seems some iPhone users are able to text me with no issue and others are having to manually select "send as text message". If/when I switch back to my iPhone I won't be enabling I message.

thanks - gonna try again tonight.

one thing that sucks about the G3 is that while it is a good looking phone, Verizon plastered their logos all over the dang thing

I never noticed before you mentioned that that my S5 doesn't have a single T-Mobile logo on it.

I like T-Mobile. I have a second line with them. But I wish their coverage was a bit better around town.

Verizon is probably the worst at over branding their phones.

Let me know how it goes.

made it through to 2 individually but earlier the same 2 as a group didn't work for both. Only one got it and she couldn't respond. (was before I shut down iMessage on iMac).

Hopefully I'm good

logo on the front (which really sucks). big ass 4GLTE logo and regular logo on the back.

plus a bunch of crappy apps that I haven't figured out how to delete but will all suck money if I accidentally use them.

Ordered an Otterbox Symmetry case for mine. It's slim, feels solid, and covers up all of those Verizon logos nicely.
