Game Thread: (#11/10) Lady Vols 76 - Tennessee Tech 48

7-0 without our best player. Fantastic. Sunday will be a stiff road challenge, looking forward to it.

Great to see Wynn and Striplin get significant mins, both are rough but definitely alot there to develop.

Key had a low-key (couldn't help myself) double double, 11 pts 11 rebounds. And the usual block party, to which she invited Emily!

Fantastic, quick release, confident shooting by Darby. Unfortunately, we remain overall an awful 3 pt shooting team. Especially our guard tandem of Horston, Walker and Miles who scored another O-fer from downtown.

Turnovers, ugh. Almost all unforced on bad decision, ill-advised passes. We can balance out what a player contributes and say forget their turnovers, but if this continues at this rate it will thwart our efforts to finally break thru to the elite team neighborhood. Must be brought under control. Some players, as I've always said, are just going to be high volume t.o. makers, but that means 3 or possibly 4 per game. Not 5, 6, 9, etc. IMO our highest priority for correction.
Some really bad decisions out there tonight on passes. Much better in the second half, though. 8 at the half, only three the rest of the way.

Agree think she could work Wynn into the Dye spot for a few minutes. She could work Striplin with Green and Key. Both these freshmen need to work with the main group of four starters. It doesn't have to be at the same time. Wynn 13 points 8 rebounds and two steals in 42 minutes is not that bad. Just 36 percent shooting but Alexus is in at 34 so don't think she would hurt that much. If Striplin had the experience to draw fouls would much prefer her she is almost automatic at the line. She doesn't have that experience, but would like to see her work with the main starters in this next game.
tess is earn her starting spot till rae gets back is kepts playing this she be key to opening paint for the post . and did you see karoline set a pick for sara shot.

Horston 1 for 3, Key 1 for 2, Green 1 for 2, There is your four misses. Key and Green just aren't going to make a high percentage you hope for 60 percent. Horston usually better than she was tonight an off night for her all around.

Karoline played well when she gets that position inside she can make the shot. Strong on the boards as well 6 and 5 and a blocked shot in her playing time tonight. Kaiya just has to become a finisher she can get to the rim anytime she wants just misses to many easy ones.

She is going to be a good player. Hard to fit her in right now. But I would like to see more of her.

Right now, she's a liability on defense, just doesn't move quickly and gets blown by down the lane a lot. But, she knows what she's doing on offense, posting up down low, and rebounding. She's gonna be a good player when she picks it up on defense.

Our inside game was productive.

Alexus - 10-15 shooting, 9 rebounds, POG
Tamari - 5-8 shooting, 11 rebounds, 4 blocks
Karoline - 3-4 shooting, 5 rebounds
Keyen - 2-4 shooting, 3 rebounds

Still feel we could have had more points in the paint but overall, a good showing.

We had 9 players that played more than 10 minutes.

We out rebounded TTU 53-27. TTU was in the right spot for a lot of those rebounds and they were very aggressive going for the ball. Our passing was not sharp (overall). We had the ball stolen away 11 times.

I'm relieved Tess is finally showing her detractors there is a job for her to do and that she can do it.

He started for the Vols and played the same position he criticizes the most. He was a very good player in his day, which wasn't all that long ago.

Nothing he said was even remotely belittlingly. He is paid to analyze what players and coaches do that is wrong or right. That is literally his job.
My mistake Voluble 2. I didn't know. I will eat crow.

If we could mashup Wynn and Stiplin, the combo would be freshman of the year with extreme speed, good rebounding, good defense, and able to shoot layups.

Let me tell y’all…. I know Jordy’s mother and you have no idea how these mean-spirited comments in this forum hurt her. And they mess with a player’s confidence. **** the crap up about her.

Nope, they need to stay off fan forums. What we say or think means absolutely nothing, why would they waste their time? Why fish for insults and then get insulted?

I'm always curious if these alleged parent board readers also go listen in on random fan comments around the arena at games and get all butt hurt about what's said? This is no different.

In general I really doubt these parent board reader posts; they've been around elite athletics for a while and they know what criticism is important to monitor. Old school fan forums are not amongst them.

I agree that Tess has a big role to play for the LVs. Great game, Tess. Keep it up.

Steve seems to do most if not all LV games on SEC+. I like Steve, think he is good and knowledgable, but I would like to see a bit more variety in color analysts. Maybe an ex LV player?

Ex-Vols player Andraya Carter called games for the SEC Network a few years ago.
Thought she did a great job too. I don't know why she wasn't called back to keep it going.
