We'll have to agree to disagree, plus this is an extremely old and tired subject we argue about every season and I promised myself I wouldn't do it this season. So just this once . . .
My basic disagreement is over the "outsized influence" of this forum. At peak, during the season, we are a couple of dozen active posters and probably several times that of lurkers, drivebys, etc. We ARE actually one of the larger more active WBB forums but even at that we're tenny, tiny as a percentage of people who care or watch WBB. Plus we are a very old school format; I'm sure twitter, instagram, etc are more active.
Moreover, I don't see watching what we say as a solution; rather, those actually connected to the program should watch what they consume. As I said in the original post, seeking out this forum, attaining a login, and then monitoring for insults is no different from running up on a live conversation, eavesdropping on it, and then being hurt by what you heard. Don't spend your time that way unless you truly want to hear what's being said. Then don't complain.
In reality, these parents and players have been in elite athletic zones a long, long time. They long ago figured out what's important criticism (the coaches) and what doesn't amount to a hill of beans (us).
